John replied to the topic Re: Failed install in the forum. You're correct on that. However, I have to say that I've known Bob Parsons since the old Parsons Technology days and have used Godaddy services since virtually their day one, after changing the name from Jomax...and this is the first time I've had a problem like this. Guess I can't complain too much. LOL
That said it is a bit of a pain but since the project is a personal research effort I guess I'll just use Moodle in it's native format and link between the two sides.
Thanks for your help.
Ciao...

John replied to the topic Re: Failed install in the forum. After all the preceeding I discovered Godaddy doesn't support XML RPC on their shared LINUX accounts. LOL

John replied to the topic Re: Failed install in the forum.Kudos!
I deleted all references to Joomdle in the _menu table and all Joomdle tables in the database (not sure why they weren't deleted earlier?).
Reinstalled Joomdle from my server via the extension manager and it installed as expected...very interesting.
What I can't see is why the original install failed. The state Joomla was in after deleting the Joomdle tables and _menu entries is the same state it was in at the time of the initial failed installation.
I any event, its seems to be installed and now i'll have to spend some time next week setting it up to work with Moodle.
Thanks for the help!

John replied to the topic Re: Failed install in the forum. Thanks, if you had the same experience it suggests that the issue is something in the J 2.5.1 core update. The good news from my perspective is that it's likely not an issue with my particular installation.

John replied to the topic Re: Failed install in the forum. As a follow on....I updated the J 2.5.0 test installation to J 2.5.1 and received the following errors:
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file
Jommla reports "installing component successful" but there is no Joomdle component installed. The Modules and Plugins are there but no joomdle component.
This is precisely what occured in my main installation. Thus, from this vanatage point it seems that there's something in J 2.5.1 core update that causes the Joomdle installation to fail.
The instalaltion with J 2.5.0 installs Joomdle R07 as expected, but when updated to J 2.5.1, using the same Joomdle R 07 installation package, the installation fails to install the Joomdle component presenting the above error messages.

John replied to the topic Re: Failed install in the forum. You're welcome but I wish it weren't necessary.
I still don't have a handle on why plug-ins and modules installed but not the component itself. However, that was the problem on the install...no component to uninstall so a few residuals were left behind which caused the application to crash...specifically the joomdlesession parameters, but that was, frankly, easy to correct once I realized what was causing the hiccup.
After you complete your upgrades I'll give it another whirl as I do like the idea of combining the two on a website.

John replied to the topic Re: Failed install in the forum.I was able to bypass the problem by rewriting the joomdlesession.php file which allowed me to access the admin control panel.
Unfortunately, I've wasted too much time on trying to get Joomdle to work with my installation of J2.5.1 and while it seems like a good idea, I'll have to take a pass on using Joomdle.
Thanks.

John created a new topic Failed install in the forum.New user. Attempting to install Joomdle into a Joomla 2.5.1 site.
Have unzipped the joomdle-07.zip file and used the extension manager to upload and install the joomdle-joomla-package.zip.
I receive the following error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method JXMLElement::getElementByPath() in /home/content/84/8844084/html/administrator/components/com_joomdle/install/install.php on line 60
Any help appreciated.
TIA.
