Hi,

I am new to joomdle and joomla and need help debugging an error.

I installed the joomdle-0.5-for-joomla16-alpha4.zip on Joomla1.6.3 and received two messages.

1. Error building Admin Menus
2. Installing component was successful ( Joomdle shows up in Extention Manager: Manage )

Question: Is there a way to turn on debugging so that the error can be traced?

No errors in the apache or php logs, and joomla/logs.
The joomla output is set to debug which puts SQL on the lower part of the screen.

Thank You

We have not tested with Joomla 1.6.3 yet. Also, I am not sure if there are any differences which would cause such an error.

I will load up Joomla 1.6.3, I believe it was just released last week to fix problems with 1.6.2, and see if we get the same error messages.

I had the same problem. I went to phpmyadmin and deleted Joomdle from jml_menu and then reinstalled. It works fine now.

Thank You imlach- I removed all of the joomdle entries from the _menu table in the database and then the Component->Joomdle menu appeared after re-installing joomdle. I was able to follow the joomdle-in-joomla install instructions from there. The same condition occurred with 1.6.1 and the fix worked there as well.

I had to go back and install the Joomdlehooks plugin using joomla's extension manager. I unzipped the joomdle-joomla-package.zip and added the plg_joomlehooks to the Install from Directory option. It installed with a successful message. Then enabled it in the plugin manager.

The system manager now has 4 entries and reads OK for three - XMLRPC PHP Extension, Joomdlehooks User Plugin enabled, cURL Enabled, but not Joomdle Web Services.

The Joomla Web Services enabled box was missing from the Joomla Global Configuration->System tab before I installed Joomdle and I can't find a way to enable it.
Separate issue.

With Joomla 1.6, there is no longer a need to enable Web Services in Joomla's Global Configuration. Instead each component is responsible for appropriate calls.

I have read over the above message few times, and am not sure if you are still looking to resolve something or if all is OK now?

Chris,

Yes, I do have a question on the Joomdle install.
I don't know how to get the Component->Joomdle->SystemCheck-> Joomdle Web Services to give a status of OK.
Is this worthy of a separate thread?

Thanks for asking

Hi there, just a quick note to acknowledge your comment. I will need to look through the various configurations to see how I can generate the red X beyond the 'normal' and with 1.6.3.

This may take me a few days to get this done.

Is there a way I can turn on verbose debugging to a log file that might show where in the code the check is failing?

Beyond the normal Joomla debug mode no. If you search through the forum, you will notice those who wish to do detailed debugging will add some lines of code to the functions.

I have re-read from the top of this thread, and still am not quite sure what your error message is aside from error building admin menus.

You say you do not see the Joomdle System Web Services, in the Joomdle System Health Check. If you do not see it at all, this suggests there is a problem before this.

Do you have any error messages aside from red x? Is everything green tick?

I am getting the red x, no other error messages. I have tried several variations of the joomdle url in moodle. No luck.
