Joomla 6 compatibility? was created by Eric vanBok
Hello.
I am just wondering where things stand on a version of Joomdle compatible with Joomla 6. I see that the current version of Joomdle requires the "Behaviour - Backward Compatibility" plugin. That plugin needs to be disabled when upgrading to Joomla 6 as Joomla 6 has its own "Behaviour - Backward Compatibility 6" plugin.
I am not in a huge rush to get to Joomla 6, but I would like to within the next 6 months if possible. What is your timeline for a version of Joomdle that is compatible with Joomla 6?
If you need any testers, I have an in development website that is currently Joomla 5.4 running Joomdle 2.4, and Moodle 4.5. It is perfect for testing as it isn't live yet.
Thank you for all that you do.
Eric

Hi!
I just noticed that I had not created the new forums for Joomdle 3.x to give it some visibility.
I released a Joomla 6 compatible package some days ago. It would be great if you can do some good testing and let me know if you find any issues.
Are you using any plugins or modules not included in the main package? If so, let me know and I will see what I can do.

Besides the main package I am using:
Also, does the new package only run on Joomla 6, or does it run on Joomla 5 as well to ease upgrades to Joomla 6?
- HikaShop Orders
- Hikashop Selling Courses
- Events Booking Joomdle
- Joomdle user check

Great, thanks for the feedback.
First: yes, this version should run fine in Joomla 5 and Joomla 6.
As for plugins:
- Joomdle user check is now included in the main package. A new user plugin called Joomdle replaces Joomdlehooks and Joomdle user check
- Hikashop plugins: great, these are the ones I worked on to develop the shop integration, so they are almost ready, I just need to do some cleaning before release. I will try to do it asap and let you know.
- Event Booking: do you have a Joomla 6 compatible package you can share by email? That way I will be able to work on the new integration plugin.

Nice to know that Joomdle user check is now included in the main package. Do let me know when the HikaShop plugins are ready for testing.
I do have a Joomla 6 compatible package of Events Booking. What email address can I send it to?
Also, any special steps/notes that I need to know about when I go to upgrade the Joomdle install on the website?
Thank you!

Hi.
I uploaded the Hikashop plugins so you can test them. I have added a new category to the downloads area.
You can send Events Booking to antonio at joomdle, thanks.
> Also, any special steps/notes that I need to know about when I go to upgrade the Joomdle install on the website?
Not much. The process would be:
- You are in Joomla 5 with Joomdle 2.4
- You upgrade to Joomdle 3
- You will need to disable joomdlehooks and user check plugins, and enable the new Joomdle user plugin
- Make sure system check keeps being all green
- Upgrade to Joomla 6
For Hikashop: a plugin changed name, so you will need to disable the old one and enable the new one.

Hello.
I am in the process of upgrading to Joomdle 3, and am having an issue with installing the auth_joomdle.zip plugin in Moodle. When I try I get this error:
Install plugin from ZIP file
Validating auth_joomdle ... Error
[Error] A higher version of this plugin is already installed [2025100300]
Installation aborted due to validation failure
Looks like there might be something wrong with the package.
Other than that the install of Joomdle 3 looks good so far. I get green checks in the system check, except for Joomdle Web Services which says "Joomdle version is different in Joomla and Moodle" which at this point is expected.
Once we work through the install of the Moodle plugin, I will fully test it out and then move to upgrading and testing the HikaShop plugins.
Thank you!

I have uploaded the new Joomdle Event Booking integration plugin. I changed its name, so you will need to remove the old one.
The same thing happens with one of the Hikashop plugins.
Also, related to Hikashop: I changed how the product/course mappings are done, to give you more freedom to use SKU/product code if needed.
There's now a new Joomdle mapping table, that should be filled automatically when you install the new plugin.

Hello.
There were several days there that I could not work on this. I am back at it today.
I ran into an issue when going through the Joomla 6 upgrade process. I disabled the Joomla 5 compatibility plugin as recommended, and the website crashed. It was failing on the "System - Joomdle License" plugin. Is that plugin still used? If so, that plugin needs some work to ensure it is fully Joomla 6 compatible.
Let me know if I need that plugin any more.
Below is the error and the call stack.
Thanks,
Eric
