[Solved] supporting UTF8 was created by Arasp
Hi guys,

When I enabled web services in Joomla. Some of my persian writings in joomla backend and also front end changed to ????? ?????? ?????? (instead of farsi RTL font)

This makes my joomla completely out of work!

In previous release, those members who had Farsi name in Joomla database had very strange font in moodle when they could logged into moodle.

Now everything sounds to be workings. System health check gives me no error but this problem sounds to be a big one.

How can I solve it ?

Hi there,

You say when you enable web services. We services is a Joomla function and not a Joomdle one. What happens when you enable web services with Joomdle not installed?

well, in order to check it, please go to www.ezaban.com/index.php?option=com_comm...=frontpage&Itemid=66

you will see some question marks: ???????? ?????

These should be Farsi (Arabic) fonts (titles of the modules I have published)

I don't know if it is related to Joomdle or not, but anyway at the moment I enabled joomla web services this problem occurred. I tried to disable that function, it did not solved the problem.

BY the way, in order to have XMLPRC working in moodle check, ( I updated my Apache server).

Please tell me what I can do now to solve the problem.

THanks,

Hey guys,

Did you come up to any solution so far I have found out that :

1- it is not related to template issue. because I changed the templates I have the same problem, and even the problem exists in Joomla backend.

2- I disabled web service in joomla, the problem exists.

3- There is no encoding problem with UTF8 and ...

The only thing that I have not tested yet is to uninstall XML-RPC from my Apache server.

Please help me out, I am locked on this issue.

Hi there,

Sorry I didn't recognise your username earlier. Now that you have posted the link to your site I recall a little - please correct me if I am wrong. I recall you had joomdle working previously with UTF8 and that recently your site was hacked and taken offline for a short time. Is my memory correct?
Assuming so, what has changed since then?

Yes, You are right. I am the one that the joomla site was hosted on www.ezaban.com and my moodle site on www.lincolony.com

I think my website got hacked by some Iranian extremists for the reason of cooperating with Americans ! Politics sucks!

Now everything is the same as before. But I had to start from scratch because I did not have access to backups.

Anyway, this time the moodle site is inside www.ezaban.com . It is www.ezaban.com/uni or uni.ezaban.com

Please note that in previous system Joomla members who used Farsi (Persian/Arabic) font in their joomla database, had problem with showing their name in Moodle. (They could see some odd problems)

For this time, when I noticed that XML-RPC should be enabled for Moodle installation, before I install moodle I updated my Apache server.
I did everything as before.

But now you see that I have problem in Joomla. (As mentioned in the above posts)

At this point I do not believe this is related to Joomdle however I would like to just confirm so late you can eliminate this part of the puzzle. I have taken a screen shot of the affected locations. Can you let me know what is meant to be in place of the ???? - there are 4 places. Also, I notice that you are showing the jomsocial home page, what happens if you disable the joomdle module from this page?

Yes, It is not related to jomsocial but I think It is related to XML-RPC in my apache server.
in other word, it means that with Joomdle we cannot support UTF8 ! (maybe it will work if I go to the easy apache and uninstall xml-rpc) but will it be ok with joomdle?

those question marks should be Persian font, it is not related to joomsocial at all. It is just a sample.

Those modules are also published for testing. That is all.

My comments were I do not believe they were related to joomdle not jomsocial. It is difficult for us to understand what those modules are / what the content should be when it is just a bunch of ? Thus my questions.

Do the question marks appear on this page when the my joomdle courses module is disabled? If so then it is not likely to be an issue with joomdle.

My suggestion is this:
- disable and/or remove your joomdle
- ensure joomla is working properly
- ensure moodle is working properly
- and then and only then get joomdle working. if at that point joomla starts to have problems there there could be a problem with joomdle.

At this point, it is really hard to tell, especially when it was working before.

not a chance !

I did everything. I even uninstaller xmlrpc, joomdle and moodle. the problem is still there.

those questions marks are nothing but the module titles ! I even installed sample data when installing new joomla. still the module titles are shown as ??????

maybe I better remove joomla compeletly and reinstall it again.
