[Solved] changed domain name, not sure what to update was created by Aud
The site I made for my client, Joomdle, pretty much complete, now they have decided to buy a different domain name and point it to the current location.
I have changed in Moodle:
Site Admin > Users > Joomdle
The Joomla Url to the new one.
In Joomla:
Components > Joomdle > Configuration
If I change the Moodle URL to the new site name when I click on courses from the home page, in a list generated by mod_joomdle_courses, the links no longer goes to the courses, they go to the Moodle frontpage.
It doesn't change show the old domain name in the address bar, but on rollover it shows the old domain name at the bottom left of the browser window.
Am I missing something, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure what may be happening, as there is no other place to change configuration when moving hosts, if I recall it correclty.
I don't fully understand what you mean with the old domain showing at the bottom...
Are you using a subdomain for Moodle?

Joomla is in the root, moodle in in a sub directory.
At the very bottom of the browser window, on hover over, the destination link appears, in this case it is the path with the original hosting domain name. The site is now using a domain that points to the original location.
Thanks

Did you copy the moodle files from old installation?
If so, did you change site url in config.php file?

no, there was no copying or moving of files, just that they bought a new domain and pointed it at the old location.

Well that sounds like that would cause your problem - if I read your statements correctly. In other words, installation and configuration was done on domain ABC and worked OK. New domain, DEF was purchased and redirected to ABC domain. Was this all that was done?
If so, ie only a domain redirection and all the original configuration files remain the same, than technically speaking you are running on the old domain still.

that's it in a nutshell, so the bottom bar is showing the acutal domain ABC even tho the top address bar shows DEF.
The client wants the bottom address to show DEf too, I guess that is not possible.
Thanks anyway for you support.
