[Solved] XML-RPC Error (620): Method does not exist was created by Jocelyn Garner
Hi there, I have just finished setting up Joomla 1.7.3 with Moodle 2.2.1 and Joomdle R0.7. I am getting this error when I try to add a user on Joomla:
XML-RPC Error (620): Method "joomdle_user_id" does not exist
Did I mis-configure something? The System Check shows the first 3 green checkmarks, and the 4th is specific to Joomla 1.5, according to my reading, so I tihnk I've got everything right.
I have 3 articles in my Joomla site and no courses set up yet in my Moodle site, so I don't think it's content-related. This is a test setup and I am trying to land the first of what I hope will be MANY contracts for this combination.
Can you advise ASAP? Help!

Hi there, the 4th check is also required. It just that in J1.5 and J1.7 there could be different issues. Also, to avoid a future error, you will require at least one course to be created (even if it is just a few pages and topics) otherwise you will not be able to pull content through ie test your Joomdle options.

Chris, I appreciate your response, but you have not given me clues as to where to look to fix this XML-RPC error. I have enabled XML-RPC on the Moodle site according to the Joomdle documentation, and installed all of the Joomdle plugins. Are you telling me that I will continue to have XML-RPC errors until I add a course, or is it something else that I have missed?
Please advise, and thanks,
Toolie

Hi Toolie, you are correct
I have not given you a clue because you have not reported the error. The 4th check will give you an error message.
With that error message you will find the meaning and appropriate resolution in the FAQ / System Health Check in the documentation Wiki

Please re-check my original post, (2nd paragraph):
XML-RPC Error (620): Method "joomdle_user_id" does not exist
XML-RPC Error (620): Method "joomdle_user_id" does not exist

You said that error message was reported when you were adding a new user, not the error specified in the system health check. Pls confirm if that is the error message specified in the system health check.

Sure, here you go:
Joomdle Web Services X The requested function does not exist

You need to add the functions to the service:
www.joomdle.com/wiki/Installing_Joomdle_...functions_to_service

Indeed I did add the functions to the service, but so many were marked Deprecated that I didn't include them the first time through. After the initial setup, I went back and added the rest of them marked Deprecated, but when I look at the setting, it still shows that some functions (the deprecated ones) were not added.
I think I'll go back and delete then re-add that service and see if that clears it up. I'm tied up with another website at the moment, so it may take me a day or two to try this. I will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Toolie

I am still unable to get Joomla and Moodle to talk to each other. I removed and recreated the Web Services Connector, the Authorized User (twice) and the system role, and no matter what I do, I keep getting this error when I click on Authorized Users in the Web Services section:
[Joomdle Connector]
