Problem authenticating Joomdle connector for Joomla was created by Geoff Ferguson
Some help would be appreciated - I've spent hours reading various threads and trying laternatives, but must be missing something.
I have successfully installed Joomla 3.2.1 and Moodle 2.6 on my Windows 8.1 machine. The installation was done using XAMPP and so both programmes are in separate folders under C:\xampp\apps. I reached the stage of installing Joomdle 0.94 where I had to place the extracted contents of the authorisation plugin zip file into the auth folder. So I created the following folder - C:\xampp\apps\moodle\auth\joomdle - and placed the relevant files there.
But when I go to the notifications tab in Moodle's site administration there is no sign of the plug to be authorised.
Is this a problem with the folder structure? Or to do with trying to get this to work on a stand alone machine? I want to test all this before trying to establish it on a server.
Any suggestions welcome.

The folder structure is fine and installing on a stand alone machine is perfectly acceptable too.
To check the files are under C:\xampp\apps\moodle\auth\joomdle\*.* and not C:\xampp\apps\moodle\auth\joomdle\joomdle\*.* , sometimes people unzip into the folder and create an extra folder by mistake.
What I have not tried before is Windows 8 and Moodle 2.6. Others have reported that running Moodle 2.6 has been OK, however, I have not heard of anybody using Windows 8 yet.
Personally, I use Windows 7, Moodle 2.5 and XAMPP.

Easier yet: just use Moodle new feature, that let you install the new plugins directly from the web, without uploading the files manually.

Hi Chris and Antonio
Thanks for your suggestions. I've been able t get past the authorisation stage but have another problem.
I got past the authorisation stage by following instructions on this site:
www.attuneinfocom.com/blog/moodle-and-jo...n-using-joomdle.html
Although not explicit, the instructions there suggested to me that I copy the extracted contents of the authorisation plugin zip file into C:\xampp\apps\moodle\htdocs\auth, rather than C:\xampp\apps\moodle\auth - that seemed to work fine.
My problem now is the system health check within Joomla. That gives a fail against the last three items. The errors are:
- Joomla cannot connect to Moodle
- Moodle cannot connect to Joomla
- Received empty response from Moodle
The help page suggests that the last of these is critical and could be because of a misconfigured Moodle URL in Joomdle component. The address on my machine is C:\xampp\apps\moodle - I've tried various ways to write this, but none seem to work. This is probably a very basic question, but any ideas?
Thanks again for help so far.

C:\xampp\apps\moodle is not an URL.
You should use something like: http://localhost/moodle (remember to add http:// in front)

Thanks Antonio
Still no luck, I'm using http://localhost/xampp/apps/moodle and still get
- Joomla cannot connect to Moodle
- Moodle cannot connect to Joomla
- Received empty response from Moodle
Any other ideas?
I know it's not much, but I've sent £10 via Paypal as a gesture of thanks for the work in making this extension available.

Hi Geoff.
Thank you very much for your donation, we really appreciate it.
Your URL seems wrong. I don't use XAMPP, butI don't think you have to enter all the path (xmapp/apps).
I think it would be just: http://localhost/moodle
Or maybe: http://localhost/apps/moodle

Or even maybe: localhost/xampp/moodle
I am sure Chris will know better, as he is using XAMPP.

Hi Antonio
Closer! - http://localhost/moodle - took care of the first error. Now I have
- Joomla to Moodle - ok
- Moodle cannot connect to Joomla
- Received empty response from Moodle
Does that narrow it down to an error in how I've configured Moodle or Joomla?
