Hello,
I look forward to have coupon codes as enrollment code. So that we can sell unique codes as enrollment codes for moodle courses.
The following benefits we can have through this feature
-Course seller can sell codes in offline and student can enroll to the respective courses.
-Virtuemart extensions are capable to generate unique codes which can be used only once, so that codes can not be passes from user to user.
- This would be very helpful for developing countries where people do not use online and card transaction extensively.
- 100% discount coupon does not lead buyer to any payment gateway such as paypal, it successfully complete transactions.
-This would be very helpful for short short term courses or tests especially mock tests.

Regards'

Shyam

Yes. Many of developing countries in Asia do not use credit cards such as Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, and many others. I am curious how you would 'integrate' the off-line enrolment process with the VM coupon code. From a process point of view, you would provide enrolment codes off-line first in order to collect the money. Then the student would need to go on-line to enter his/her enrolment code into VM. So what would generate the off-line enrolment code? If you use VM (or one of the VM extensions) to generate the coupon codes, this is done at the point of purchase or through some event and therefore how would you distribute these to the students off-line? Which country are you referring to?

Hello Chris, In Asian countries education is provided through traditional classroom or physical classroom model. However, online education is also growing in these countries but its still in nascent age. So integration of online and offline education makes a viable business model. Regarding off-line process, Educational providers can sell coupon codes through sales channels as scratch cards to get users enrolled in courses.

what I need is to get coupon code accessibility for moodle courses. If a user use 100% free coupon code to buy a course in VM, he must be enrolled to courses automatically as same as he gets downloadable products without going to payment gateways like paypal. Joomla Subscription extnsions like Oscommerce also works as same.

Joomdle is doing well with paypal, so it should also be doing good with coupons.
Extensions of VM are capable to generate product and user specific coupon codes in bulk.

Regards.

Hi again, Yes - Actually I live in Asia and have done so for around 20 years working with schools, telcos, commerce and media companies. Adapting one of the VM payment gateways should not be too big a deal. I see the bigger issue is the code management. You are correct that it is pretty easy to distribute codes through scratch cards. The challenge here is matching the scratch card code with codes in VM (or otherwise). Ideally, you would need a system that generates codes automatically and then securely prints them onto the scratch cards - we can do this in SEA with Gemplus and a few others. Or printing the scratch card along with codes (many companies will do this) and then uploading the codes into VM (or otherwise). Alternatively, you may consider using SMS as an alternative to scratch cards eliminating the need of having a distribution channel. Thus my question re your country so I could advise on alternative approaches that would be suitable for your specific country.

Hi there, at this point I can only say we will put it on the feature request list which is about 20-30 items long. So at this point I cannot give you a definitive answer. You are more than welcome to start working on it and we can include the code into Joomdle if it something that you find urgent.

Has this been implemented? I am looking for this option. Moodle does have "enrollment key' option.. perhaps we can integrate coupon in VM to enrollment key in Moodle.

Thanks

May be I will ask my programmer to do this integration. But right now, we stuck up installing joomdle for Moddle2.0. The issue has been posted in another topic. Someone else also has reported the same error while installing the auth_joomdle plugin.

Thanks for the quick response.
