[Closed] Videos being downloaded instead of streamed was created by Dave
I'm using Joomla 2.5, Moodle 2.3 and Joomdle 0.9
Whenever I click on a joomdle link to a video file, it prompts the user to download the video instead of being streamed like in a moodle page. When I view the moodle page from within moodle itself without joomla, it streams the video fine from moodle's flowplayer. But when I try to view the video page from within joomla and joomdle, it just downloads the video instead. I'm trying to stream an flv video.
Any idea on what could be causing this?

Hi. I never heard something like that.
Not sure if you are talking about the wrapper, or the joomdle course view showing a page view.
Can you show us the 2 links to see what is different between them? (you can remove domain)

Normally whether a video is streamed or downloaded is related to the browser configuration. Like Antonio, I am not aware of any Joomla setting that would change this behaviour.
A few thoughts:
- are you testing with the same browser? on the same pc?
- do you have the standard joomla install? any installed plugins that may affect this?

Thanks for the replies. I tried it on different browsers and different computers and it gives me the same results. I'm just using a commercial joomla template but I don't see why the video would be downloaded because of any settings or plugins within that template. When I navigate through moodle from within the joomla wrapper the video streams fine within flowplayer. But when I try to navigate from within joomdle it just shows the video link and when you click on it it downloads instead of opening within the wrapper. In moodle I set it so the video embeds within the page instead of downloading.
I've attached two files. In the "joomdle.jpg" file you see the video with the link to it and when you click on that it downloads, instead of being embedded.
In the second file, you can see the video embedded within the wrapper.

This seems like a problem with the page view in Joomdle then.
How did you insert the video? I will try to replicate it locally to see if I can find a solution.

Hi. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I haven't had internet access in the last couple days.
I inserted the video using the moodle media button, in the course content section. If I'm not able to get this to work, would I have to download a separate extension for joomla to display the videos right?

What kind of video do you use?
I tried uploading an avi and a mp4, and I get just links in Moodle, instead of it showing the video. Do I need to do anything else?

Hi.
Thanks for the info. I tested in a new installation and the video is showing on Moodle.
As for showing it on Joomla/Joomdle: I guess we will need to pass the content through the media plugins, so it returns the player code.
I will move this to feaure requests forum, to see if we can include it in a future release.
