Hello,

I just successfully installed Moodle 2.0 and the newest version of Joomla, 1.7, on my website.

Joomla: missmoeller.com
Moodle: missmoeller.com/school

I successfully installed Joomdle (.54) into Moodle, and started working on installing Joomdle into Joomla 1.7.

However, I seem to be running into two issues so far:

1) For starters, in Joomla 1.7 there is no "Enable Web Services" option under Global Configuration > System.

2) Most troubling, when I try to install the "joomdle-joomla-package.zip" file from the Extension Manager, I get this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method JXMLElement::getElementByPath() in /home/missmoe/public_html/administrator/components/com_joomdle/install/install.php on line 27

Does anyone have some recommendations on what I should do?
Or is it just more worth it to uninstall Joomla 1.7 and install Joomla 1.6?

I greatly appreciate any help you can offer me. :-)

Joomdle R0.54 will not work with J!1.7 You may want to try the J! 1.6 Alpha but we have not tried that on 1.7 thus far.

If you try it, please let us know how it goes.

Hmm. We'll, I've already had to start over after installing both the Joomla and Moodle scripts once (when I had to change hosts from GoDaddy).

Do you think it's worth it to try Joomdle 0.54 on Joomla 1.6 if it hasn't been tested yet?

Or should I just avoid any additional headaches, and go ahead and just uninstall Joomla 1.7, install Joomla 1.5, and continue my integration with Joomdle 0.54 from there?

Hypothetical Question:
Do you know if there will eventually be an update to Joomdle to make it compatible with Joomla 1.7 in the event I need to upgrade to that version later? Or do you feel it would likely be too much of a pain in the rear to try to upgrade to both the newer versions of Joomla and Joomdle at that time without upsetting the preexisting integration?

If so, do you think I should just stick with Joomla 1.5 indefinitely?

Thank you again for all your help, Chris!

There is already a J1.6 version. You can download it from the home page - Joomdle 1.6 Alpha. This would be the closest to J1.7 but we have not tested it at all.

Hypothetically, we should have a J1.7 version.

As for what you should do, that is a very hard question as I know nothing about your specific requirements. Eventually J1.5 will stop being supported, so at some point you will need to migrate. That said, you will get about a year before that occurs.
