SIS and Google Apps integration was created by sac
Hey guys,

This component is really a massive work and I love the way you support the forum, hats off to Antonio and Chis :)

I love joomdle because it integrate one of the best LMS/VLE "Moodle" with one of the easiest and modest CMS "Joomla" and what makes this perfect is the ability to add extensions to joomla like jomsocial and Kunena for social networking and other very useful integrations for schools and educational centers.

The only part of this system that would make sense to add next is a student information system to track assessment, attendance and school wide grade book for online (moodle) and offline activities and assignments, I've been looking into different SISs and so far schooltool looks promising.

The other feature that would be of great use is integration with file repositories like google documents (google apps) which is quite common among schools, this will also integrate email services and other neat google apps made for schools and educational use.

I would like to know what you guys think about this.

Hi Sac, thanks for the words of support.

I have been using OpenSIS for this part and have integrated it in my 'environment' of applications. But I do not do this through Joomdle - it's a custom mod that is not quite finalised yet. We have been looking at bringing in parts of an SIS into a Joomdle sister component but are quite some ways off. The positive part is that when you break down all the functions of an SIS many are already provided by Joomla, Joomdle, and Moodle. What is not there is the scheduling, attendance, grading (of non moodle courses) and billing.

All that said, I had not noticed SchoolTool had been updated. It looks much nicer at a first glance than what I recall. I notice it is based on Python so not sure of any technical implications there and if there is a nice API to integrate it.

I too am looking at integration of Moodle with Joomla and a SIS. My SIS of choice though, is Fedena. I looked at the OpenSIS or CentreSIS, not sure which one, that promised Moodle integratation. Then I saw the price tag attached to the company that claimed to have full integration: 3000 USD for a working OpenSIS/Moodle installation. So I backed off.
