Moodle mobile app SSO and curl... was created by gvitry
Hi Antonio,

Some of our students want to use the Moodle App for mobile to access their courses. If they have been registered through Joomdle, they can't connect as they have a "Redirection not supported. Script halted" message.

As per the forum, you recommend :

For Moodle app to work, you need to use redirect-less SSO in Joomdle config in Moodle

But this setup need to switch from our actual get_contents to the curl one.

We've chosen get_contents rather than Curl because we've experienced (two years ago) difficulties with Curl as our joomla and moodle are on different domains with https enable on both and two different certificates / hosting.

Do you think we can safely switch back to curl (both our joomdle and moodle are reasonnably up to date) ?
Can I switch on Curl and redirect-less SSO only on the Moodle side, leaving the Joomdle part still using get_contents method ?

Thanks

Hi.

Redirect-less SSO won't work across multiple domains, due to security restrictions, so unfortunately your options are:
- Move Moodle to be in the same domain as Joomla, like joomlasite.com/moodle
- Don't use Joomdle

Yes, you can. But as I said, you need to move Moodle first for it to work, sorry.

Thanks, you make it clear. Sadly clear :-)

We use Joomdle to automatically register students on Moodle after they have purchased their courses on our Joomla site using HikaShop.
Once registered, as far as I understand, they no longer need Joomdle. Could you imagine any drawback if we edit each concerned student in Moodle to switch their authentication method from Joomdle to Manual for example ?
As this modification makes the app working.

Well.... maybe you don't need to go that far:
- joomdle auth method is needed for SSO to work.
- Redirect-less SSO won't work on multiple domains
- But you should be able to use redirect-less SSO in Moodle to login to Moodle and the app, even if SSO won't work: you won't be logged to Joomla when you log in to Moodle
- You keep Joomla as it is, so SSO from Joomla to Moodle still works: when you log to Joomla you will be logged in Moodle
