Hi Guys,

So I upgraded to Joomdle v1.0 on both joomla and Moodle on a test installation. And the joomdle connection worked fine. Except that I could not get into Jomsocial admin panel! Everytime I tried, it hangs for a while and then displays this error message:

XML-RPC Error (404): Unknown error

After lots of troubleshooting I found that the issue is being caused by the "User hooks - Joomdle" plugin in Joomla. If I disable it, I can login to the jomsocial admin panel. I think this was messing with the Jomsocial install process too, and I was trying to reinstall it to fix the issue before but it would not finish.

I hadn't experienced this issue with Joomdle v0.95.

What is User hooks - Joomdle? If I need it can you suggest a solution?

many thanks,

Nabil

Hi.

Plugin is needed for SSO.

First thing to do is to enable debugging in Moodle to get more info about the 404 error. Once we have more info, we can think of a solution.

Hi Antonio,

Thanks for getting back so soon! Thanks for the debugging suggestion (not sure why you suggested moodle as the issue was in joomla), as the first thing I looked to do was turn system reporting on in Joomla. Trying to go back to Jomsocial admin panel gave me this error:

"XML-RPC Error (15058501): The given username contains invalid characters | ERRORCODE: invalidusername"

I checked the users I had in Joomla and one of the accounts that had been created with the template quickstart package had a space in the username.

I deleted this user, turned on user hooks and now (touch wood) everything is working fine.

Thanks again for your help. Will consider getting a subscription soon, so I can get the Jomsocial plugins.

Nabil

Great to know that you got it working.

XML-RPC (404) is always a problem with Moodle web services, that's why I suggested Moodle debug.
