It's a different scenario.
To answer your question: we currently don't have a procedure to sync existing Moodle courses to Jomsocial groups.
Process would involve creating groups for each course, and adding enroled users.
If you have few created courses, you could do it manually, following the same procedure from the link provided by Chris.
Only difference is that you would need to create the groups manually in Jomsocial first, and then edit them in database. Finally, you would need to add users who are already enroled in the course.
