Issues after move to new hosting was created by Eric vanBok
I just completed a move to new hosting for one of my websites. I have moved other websites that use Joomla/Joomdle/Moodle and haven't had any issues.

For this one, in the System Check under Joomdle Web Services I get "Received empty response from Moodle". I have followed the suggestions in the System Health Check troubleshooting for that error and nothing has worked.

The website move was a cPanel to cPanel copy, so the hosting account is pretty much identical, except for the versions of PHP and the DB server. I have done a setting by setting comparison with the other Joomla/Joomdle/Moodle websites I have that are working, and I can't see any obvious differences. There has to be some difference though. I just am not seeing it.

Any thoughts on what else I can check to figure out what is causing the error?

OK. Well. The problem corrected itself. I logged in to work on it more this morning, and I am now getting all green checkmarks in the System Check.

What would have caused the "Received empty response from Moodle" after moving the website that would have fixed itself in the end? I am dumbfounded. Obviously, something refreshed, updated, cleared out or something that then enabled the connection from Moodle to Joomla to work properly.

I would like to know what caused the issue and what fixed it so that I can understand and deal with it the next time I see it. I hate it when issues like this correct themselves.....

Hi Eric.

I am glad that things are working now.

As for why it could have failed, I can think of a couple reasons:
1- DNS changes still not propagated. Maybe when you first tried, server was not resolving domain name correctly when trying to connect to Moodle
2- Some issue with Moodle that you may have corrected later

1 is more probable if you had any other connection tests failing in system check. If only web services line was failing, 2 is more probable.

Unfortunately, I cannot give you a definitive answer now that is working :(
