Received empty response from Moodle was created by Lionel Ray
Hello Antonio,

I'm here cause apparently we are not able to find a solution to our problem.

We've just updated Moodle 4.1 connected to a Joomla 4.3.4, and we struggle with Joomdle web service that tells us "Received empty response from Moodle"

Everything was working fine so far with Moodle 3.9

We did some of the test :

I've got the " XML-RPC Error (1): Invalid token: " Even if the servers have XML-RPC is set on both on Moodle and Joomla.

This "joomla_folder/logs/joomdle_system_check.xml" is empty, is it normal ?

From what I've read on the forum, it might be a problem on Moodle side meaning something's preventing Moodle to send informations to the Joomla server, isn't it ?

Can you confirm that this is the case or is there anything else that could be responsible for this issue ?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi.

How are the other checks in Joomdle system check?

Also, I recommend you to switch to REST already, as XMLRPC is being deprecated.

Hi Antonio,

Everything is perfectly fine otherwise.

I will tell the company which is running our Moodle if they can switch to REST with us and let you know how it is going

Thanks for your answer

Hello !

So, we switch our configuration to Rest, then we had the "Joomla URL seems to be misconfigured in Joomdle auth plugin in Moodle".

The problem for this was coming from the error report that wasn't set to none and apparently was preventing Moodle and Joomla to communicate.

Everything seems fine now !

Have a good one !

Great, thanks for the feedback.

Yes, if there are errors in the output, that will break the JSON, so it won't work. If you look at the joomdle raw reply in Moodle side, you can see the warnings breaking the communication, in case you want to address them.
