Installing Joomdle was created by Teej
Ok I am new to Joomdle and I am trying to install Joomdle on my local computer to try it out.
OK I have installed everything and I am running a system check. All items have green ticks except the last item
Joomdle Web Services has a red cross and a message "Received empty response from Moodle".
My configuration for joomla is
http://localhost:8888/joomla/
and for moodle is
http://localhost:8888/moodle19/
I have gone through the page at www.joomdle.com/wiki/System_health_check and I have rechecked these items.
Attached is the snapshot of the installation of Joomdle into Moodle and Joomla and all messages indicated loaded successfully.
I have also attached the configuration from the system health checks says I need to check again.
I just can't see what is wrong.
Any help would be great.

Hi.
Usually that message is shown when there is something (for example, a firewall) preventing connection from Joomla to Moodle.
I don't know if your setup with a non standard port will have anything to do or not, as I have never tested.

I was using MAMP to set up apache, etc. and these were the default ports. I have now moved the ports to 'usual' defaults.
Apache - 80 and mysql 3306.
In moodle - the Joomdle URL is now "http://localhost/joomla/"
In Joomla - the moodle URL in configuration is now "http://localhost/moodle19/"
I disconnected from the web for a bit then turned off any software on my computer which could be preventing access.
Still all options in health check are green except the last response. Still "Received empty response from Moodle".
Is there anything else I can possibly check?
Regards,
Teej

Hi.
Joomdle has not been confirmed to work on MAMP.
See the begginging of this thread:
www.joomdle.com/en/forum/18-r025-support...nse-from-moodle#2413
User has the same problem as you, but he did not follow up, so I don't know what the problem was.
I recall to read that mamp did not include xmlrpc, but I guess it does if you say it is being listed as OK y system check....

Yes - following the Joomdle intructions the system health check and previous preloading checks did indicate xmlrpc was installed.
What a shame about MAMP. MAMP is such an easy what to get all the requirements together - especially for quick trials. Moodle packages its product with MAMP and XAMPP.
So I guess I have to start again.
Thanks for the quick responses - I really appreciate it.

Sorry, I did not want to say that "joomdle does not work" on MAMP.
I just said some people tried and had problems, but maybe they were not MAMP-related after all...
That is why I asked about xmlrpc: can you see it in the php info page?

Antonio,
In regards to MAMP - sorry that was my misunderstanding.
Attached is the xmlrpc section in phpinfo. And the large file is the whole phpinfo display.
Again I really appreciate your help.

Other thing that could be causing problems, since you are working locally, could be IPv6 entries in hosts file.
On some systems you will need to remove a line similar to this from the host file:
::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
