Using other payment methods with 1.1.15/0,30

Hi folks,

I wondered, could anyone update me on whether I can use the Other Payment Methods patch for Virtuemart 1.1.5?

I need to use the HSBC Gateway and there are various VM extensions to do this, but none for Tienda or Moodle itself that I can find.

I tried running the patch file but I got the same errors as another post here :

patching file ps_checkout.php
Hunk #1 FAILED at 1136.
Hunk #2 FAILED at 1183.
2 out of 2 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file ps_checkout.php.rej

Not sure if this is because I'm using 1.1.5 or for other reasons - will try using the patched file provided in that thread but thought it'd be useful for others to know if it still works or not

Just as an update, I copy/pasted the first example on the thread I mentioned of a patched file, however I'm not getting users enrolled on courses when they purchase, even though they're set as confirmed on Virtuemart.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated

I don't know how HSBC payments work, but most likely you will need a custom development to use this kind of payment with Joomdle and VM, as the "other payment methods" patch will not work with it.

We did something very similiar for a client some time ago:

I assumed the "other payment methods" patch was to enable payment methods in VM other than Paypal, to work with Joomdle/Moodle? If this isn't the case, does it only work with certain methods?

Yes, you are pretty much correct. The patch has been developed for Authorize.net payments.
As for how the patch works, it MAY work for other payments methods, but is not guranteed which ones.

As the HSBC method is not included in VM, I am pretty sure the patch won't work for it.

Reading the page for the module, I am now sure that the patch will not work.
You would need a custom development done for that, like the one I told you for VCS payments.

May I suggest that this is made clear on the wiki entry then, as it is very misleading if what you're saying is that it basically works for 1 other payment system (authorize.net). What kind of costs would be associated with getting a working patch for the HSBC system I linked to?
