Problem with Joomla URL was created by Baito
I've tried installing Joomdle 0.41 on Joomla 1.5.22 and Moodle 2.0 stable. I followed the instructions on your wiki, but the system check fails for Joomdle Web Services with the following message: "Joomla URL seems to be misconfigured in Joomdle auth plugin in Moodle."
I double-checked, the URL in the settings is correct.
I thought maybe the problem is because I have Moodle running on www.somedomain.com/moodle and Joomla on www.somedomain.com/someotherdir , but when I changed Joomla to www.someotherdomain.com without subdirectories, that didn't work either.
Do I have to have both Moodle and Joomla running on the same domain AND have Joomla be in the root of that domain, and Moodle in a subfolder of it? Or is there some other thing that might cause this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
there is no restriction on domains, meaning you don't need to have moodle as a sub-folder, or even in the same domain.
So, I don't know hat your problem might be. Maybe a dns issue? ...

Thanks for your quick reply. I don't think it's a DNS issue though, as I can access both my Joomla and my Moodle installation just fine, from the webserver as well. Additionally, Joomdle does seem to attempt some sort of communication between Joomla and Moodle... if I intentionally set the wrong Moodle URL in the Joomdle Joomla component, or the wrong authentication key, I get a different error message.
I thought it might be a problem with my Moodle installation, since I had upgraded from a 2.0 beta version to the new 2.0 stable, and there might have been some old code left that might mess things up. So I installed a fresh copy of the newest Moodle 2.0 stable weekly build, unfortunately with the same result.
Have you tested Joomdle on Moodle 2.0 stable, or just on RC1? Is it possible that something changed about the web services since then that breaks it?
I did notice that some of the settings you describe in the installation for Moodle 2.0 are in a slightly different place now (for example Authentication is under Plugins, not under User).
Any other ideas?

Hi.
I have not tested with Moodle 2.0 stable. I have been quite busy lately, but I will try to make some time to test it along the weekend, and will let you know.

Hi!
I have the same problem.
I use Joomla 1.5.22, Moodle 2.0 and Community Builder 1.2.3. Both work on local server yet.
I tried to write Joomla's site URL in different formats.
When I write it like this: "http://my_joomla_site/", Joomdle's system check returns a mistake: "Joomla URL seems to be misconfigured in Joomdle auth plugin in Moodle".
When i write it like this "http://localhost/my_joomla_site/" or "http://localhost/my_joomla_site/index.php", the mistake report is: "Received empty response from Moodle".
It's interesting that when the URL of Moodle is written in the first format, some communications between Moodle and Joomdle exists: parameter "Moddle account" in joomdle's "Users" tab becomes checked.
The other problem: though I had installed the Community Builder plugin, the appropriate tab doesn't appear neither in the user's profile in the frontend, nor in the list of CB tabs in the backend.

Hi.
Are you working locally or on a hosted domain? If is hosted, you should use your real domain name.
What do you have in Joomdle config as Moodle Url?
As for CB: it does not offer any tabs. It is just for user profile syc.

I work locally using Denwer (
www.denwer.ru
) as a virtual server.
The path to files of Joomla site is: Z:\home\joomla\www\
Moodle URL in Joomdle config is: h_t_t_p://joomla/ (also tried "h_t_t_p://joomla/index.php).

Never used that, so I gues problems can be related to the virtual server.
Joomdle uses real communication between platforms, and I don't know if the virtual server will do it right, or if you need to do anything else.
As for getting the empty response, there are many cases that you will get that when you missed any prerequisite. Re-check all installation steps and test.

Hello,
I facing this issue as well, has anyone managed to resolve this.
I'm working locally using WAMP..
moodle path = http://localhost/dev.j-moodle.co.uk/
joomla path = http://localhost/dev.joomdle.co.uk/
I've been back through the instructions and prerequisites and can't see where i'm going wrong.
any ideas?
