[Solved] Missing content in Moodle was created by jj
Hi,
I have been toying with integrating Joomla and Moodle for a few days now.
I am using Moodle version 2.0 and Joomla 1.5.21. For accounn creation JomSocial is being used.
I notice that when I create a new user in Joomla, a user is created in Moodle, but without any first name, surname, email address, town or country, basically the essentials. The account that is created does have a username, and Joomdle authentication method, but these are the only fields that contain any data.
I read a similar post from another user, but I did not understand how their issue was resolved.
When I delete the user in Joomla, despite the absence of data in Moodle, the corresponding user is removed. So that is testament to the stability of Joomdle.
I am sure that I have overlooked something, but my brain is going a little ga ga. Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Kind regards.

Hi.
Did you configure Jomsocial as the additional data source in Joomdle?
Did you define mappings for the fields you want to map?

Hi Antonio,
Thank you so much for the response.
I selected Jomsocial as the Additional data source in Joomdle (component) -> Configuration area.
However, I did not set up the Data mappings. I have now examined this and set up two mappings, the Town / city and the Country. This is now populating the email address, firstname, city and county fields, which is great! Thank you!
However the field for name is a single field in Jomsocial whereas it is a Firstname, Surname in Moodle. Are you aware of a way to split the single name field for population of the Moodle account?
Many thanks.

Hi.
Joomdle will take Joomla name if no mappings defined for it, and it will try to split it in 2, using space as a separator.
You can also have 2 fields in Jomsocial, firstname and lastname, and map those.
Hope that helps,
Antonio

Ciao Antonio,
Thank you for the response and advice. The behaviour that you described is absolutely correct. I was testing with a single name, so no surprise that only one field was populating! Thank you for your patience and assistance.
A quick question if you are able, you did mention that it is possible to have a separate first name and surname field in Jomsocial, I do not see in the version of Jomsocial that I am using (1.8.7) that such an option is available. How would I create and map these 2 fields? I appreciate that you are not support for other products, but if you are aware of how I can make these changes, I would greatly appreciate your sage advice.
Wishing you and beautiful day, and thank you again for your support.
Kind regards.

Hi.
You just need to create new custom fields in Jomsocial, so you have them available to map in Joomdle.
