XML-RPC Error (0): Error writing to database was created by Brian Cunningham
Similar to this .40 thread
www.joomdle.com/en/forum/r04-support/388...-writing-to-database
This happens with Additional datasources turned on and these mappings
ID Joomla component Joomla field Moodle field
Display #
12 cb cb_company institution
11 cb cb_city city
10 cb cb_address address
9 cb lastname lastname
8 cb firstname firstname
13 cb cb_membertype department
14 cb cb_country country
Normal Joomla registration seems to work but when a new user logs in for the first time all data fields are empty except username and email address and presumably password. Adding that information results in the XML-RPC Error (0): Error writing to database error
The problem does not present when additional mappings are turned off

Thanks for the report.
I have tried to replicate this in the past with no success, so I will try again with your scenario and report back.

You can easily replicate it on our site. Knock yourself out, you have the login.

Hi.
After thinking about this, I may know where the error comes from: mapping different types of data.
In this case, you are mapping cb_country (I guess custom edit field, ie: free text) to country in moodle (which is a fixed 2-chars type).
I replicated the error locally by mapping cb_firstname to country. Then I got rid of it by adding some code to chop the string before writing it to DB.
I added an item to my TODO list to check for this kind of stuff, so at least it does not break badly.
I think there is no easy way to map country in CB, as it is not a select field, as it is in the other extensions (Jomsocial, VM, Tienda...)

OK this makes sense. Now I know what to look for.
It's not a big deal to create that type of select list in CB.
Thanks

Hi guys,
I just uninstalled Jomsocial and installed CB and I faced this problem.
I use Jomsocial 0.41. So what is your solution?
Should I disable data mapping? or should I upgrade joomdle to the latest version.

I just disabled Mapping. We do not want users using the Moodle profile anyway.
So why did you move from Jomsocial to CB? That's the first I've heard of that. We are planning to go the other way. Something I should know?

There was nothing wrong with Jomsocial. I know what you mean, but sometimes, you should make some important decisions for your company.
After running Jomsocial on my website for about a year, I found that my business is not growing as well as before. You know why?
I think almost all people who use Joomdle want to integrate Moodle and Joomla.
in my case, Joomla is my informative website where people can get information about my online institute and Moodle is the main e-learning environment which makes my company the main profit.
When I used jomsocial, I actually put my moodle part of the website under shadow. People were coming to the site and they play around for having fun with groups and sharing pictures and finding friends (This is the nature of all social networks) and they almost forgot that my website is not a social network, it is educational and Moodle is the main thing. And I think as far as Facebook is alive there is no room for other companies to make money out of self-hosted social networks.
So in the previous month, I disabled groups and medias in Jomsocial, I got better result in my business.
Now I think, Jomsocial without social networking features is nothing and CB is much better for getting information from users and to use the gathered information in CiviCRM.
And I think many of the people here in Joomdle will come to my conclusion in their business sooner or later.
And thanks for your comment, I will turn the data mapping feature off.
