Hello and thanks for the all the support. I'm very excited to get going on this project. But before I do, perhaps, I'll throw down a few question to prevent early problems.

Currently I'm using Joomla 1.5.2.3

I understand now that Moodle is a prerequisite. So I'm going to set that up soon.

First question, will Moodle be installed separately from Joomla, or does it get installed as a an integrated Joomla extension? If not, then is it just installed separately with its own databases?

My eventual goal is to integrate this all with virtuecart for some paid courses on my joomla site. I already have virtuecart setup.

Thanks a million for any advice! I will donate if I can get this setup and turning a profit!

Incidentally, I just realized, 'Moodle' is in the Softalicious-Cpanel category and ready for immediate installation.

Should it share the same database as Joomla or get it's own?
Next, should I create a subdomain for it, to keep it seperate? Or is it better to have it in the same joomla-home directory?

**Ideally, users would share same Joomla ID's and Passwords. Is this all possible?

Moodle is installed separately from Joomla. Joomdle is used to integrate the two platforms together.

I assume you mean virtuemart? Joomdle can publish your Moodle courses in a VM category that you specify so that students can purchases courses. Once those courses have been paid for, they will be auto-enrolled in the course.

You can share the same database. You will need to weigh up the pro and cons for yourself. That said, I only know of one person who uses the same database. Personally, I would use two. But the choice is yours :) Also note, many of the self installers through Cpanel do not install all the necessary Moodle drivers / modules. You will need to verify that all is installed.

Again, the choice is yours. Moodle can sit on a subdomain or just in a directory. It is very common for ppl to set up Joomla in the root of their domain --> www.myjoomladomain.com and then setup Moodle in a subdirectory www.myjoomladomain.com/courses . Again this is just a typical example but the choice is yours.

Ideally, users would share same Joomla ID's and Passwords. Is this all possible?

Yes. This is one of the key benefits. Users can register for Joomla and need not register for Moodle. Joomdle will create the users in Moodle and manage the user's passwords. The passwords will not be copied over to Moodle instead there will be a Single-Sign-On.

You may wish to browse through the Wiki to see a list of features. www.joomdle.com/wiki/Main_Page

And be sure to read through the installation documentation at least once before you proceed and then again while you are installing. Installing Moodle and Joomdle is more difficult than simply installing a Joomdle extension.

So far So good!

1. Have Moodle 2.0.2+ Installed
2. Have Joomdle plugin installed successfully on Moodle (I believe).
3. At point of Joomdle installation for Joomla 1.5.23 Sir! :)

Question: In what order to these Joomdle Packages get installed and do all of them get installed?

Presumably:
1. Joomdle-joomla-package
2. plg_community_joomdlejsbar
3. plug_joomdlehookscommuntybuilder
4. xmap-joomdle-plugin

And in the Moodle 2.0 folder:
block_jsgroup
enrol_joomdle

The instructions at this point seemed a little bit vague. I'm assuming somewhere during this process, I'll be calling upon "Mr. Joomdle Connector" to make the connection.

Well, I'll start with the "Joomdle-joomla-package.zip" and I'll relax a bit till further guidance (so I don't mess it all up).

All right. Here's what I did.

I used Mr. "Joomla Connector", character created before with the system powers, and made his token.

I installed Joomdle, and added that token to the configuration page along with the moodle url.

Does that sound basically correct?

If that is all good, are these other Joomdle packages supposed to be installed?

The ones I haven't installed yet are:

2. plg_community_joomdlejsbar
3. plug_joomdlehookscommuntybuilder
4. xmap-joomdle-plugin

And in the Moodle 2.0 folder:
block_jsgroup
enrol_joomdle

plg_community_joomdlejsbar
- only used if you are using jomsocial and you wish to have joomdle appear on the jomsocial menu

plg_joomdlehookscommunitybuilder
- only used if you are using community builder

xmap
- used only if you are using Xmap and you wish your courses to appear on the xmap site map for google

Moodle
jsgroup
- is for jomsocial. if you use and want a js group to be created when a new course is added, this does it

enroll
- if you use virtuemart and you want students to auto enroll when they buy the course - this is your guy

Sweet!

All was going well until moodle started reporting some kind of error. I think it's a moodle error though. Hope I can fix it.

When I navigate to my moodle location (bondaygee.com/courses), I get a incorrect access detected moodle-error.

Looks like this version may have a few bugs. Hmmmm....I'll google it today!

thanks

Hello once more. Was trying to install that the above mention package, but it says there's no xml setup file found in package.

Does this whole directory simply get pasted somewhere?

We're getting close!!! :)

Install which package? I was under the impression that you had already installed Joomdle?
