Categories don't display in Joomla, Joomdle / Tienda was created by David Parker
Hi,
I'm currently testing a Joomla 1.5, Moodle 2.0, with Joomdle 0.52 and Tienda as shop.
Things are looking good, but I can't see categories from moodle in Tienda. In Tienda, I can see products, but not categories. Is this correct?
I can get a list of categories from Joomdle, but they won't list in Tienda.
Thanks, David

Yes, that is right.
Moodle categories are not mapped/related to Tienda.

Thanks for the reply. I'm moving along well with the site. My understanding is:
1)When you publish a course in Tienda using Joomdle backend, it is created as a product.
2)You cannot publish categories in Tienda using Joomdle backend.
If "2" is true, is there a way to create categories in Tienda from the products list in Tienda?
What is the best practice for organizing products/courses so it's easy to shop the site? Menus?

Your understanding of both 1 and 2 are correct.
In Joomdle you specify which category you wish courses to appear under in Tienda.
I won't go as far as saying what the best practice is as that relates to your desired business process, the number of courses and categories you have, the style of your site, the level of internet and domain (not internet domains) knowledge of your shoppers, etc, however, a logical approach would be to create product categories in Tienda. Then in Joomdle define which category you want the courses to appear under.
If you want courses to appear under different and/or multiple categories, you may wish to create a temporary / staging category in Tienda. Publish the courses, to Tienda, to that category and then in Tienda just add or change the product's category.
As said much of how you do this will depend on the shopping experience you wish to provide just as much, if not more so than how to publish them to Tienda categories.

Just a note: remind that for it to work you must leave the course products in main category (the one configured in Tienda).
You can put them also in other cats, but don't remove main cat.
You can have main cat unpublished, that is not a problem.

Thanks Guys!! I was so obsessed with importing categories form moodle that I didn't even see the "New" button in Tienda! Wow, a revelation!
Today is going to be a good day!
