[Solved] VM, Joomdle & Moodle Paid Course Enrollment Problem was created by Todd
I currenlty have the following products installed:
- Joomdle
- Joomla 1.5.23
- Moodle 1.9+
- VirtueMart
Everything seems to be communicating according to plan between all the systems- except when a course is purchased through VirtueMart!
1. I register a new user with Joomla - works fine
2. I click buy now on my moodle course - works fine
3. VirtueMart takes me through the ordering process - works fine
4. VirtueMark completes the sale and sends me a email stating that the purchase was confirmed.
5. I go back to my Joomla site and click on the "My Courses" link to access my recently paid Moodle course and there isn't any course there as if I didn't purchase it! I go back to the elearning page and its telling me to purchase the course again.
- I've tried every variation of the VirtueMart process from Download to etc and i can't seem to get it..
I want a user to be able to purchase a course complete the process and it automatically grant them access to the course!!!
NOTE: after the completion of the purchase and I receive the confirmation email - it still doesn't register me as a Moodle user or Joomdle user - the site acts as though I didn't do anything!
Please assist if you have any ideas!
Regards,
- Joomdle
- Joomla 1.5.23
- Moodle 1.9+
- VirtueMart

Hi there,
I am a little confused because you have posted twice. In the previous post you describe that the user has problems registering, enrolling and entering moodle. In this post say everything seems to be communicating OK.
So first, are the problems in the previous post resolved? If not, I recommend you focus on those problems before working on VM.

No the previous problems aren't resolved - I was thinking that they were two seperate issues since one is a result of free courses and the other is a problem that I am dealing with regarding paid courses!
but thats fine... one thing at a time

First question is straightforward: are you really paying with paypal?
Because enrolments happend on paypal payment, so if you don't get to paypal, it is not gonna work...

Antonio,
No... I am using a coupon code that I created within VirtueMart to set the balance of the course to a $0.00 dollar balance then I am going through the remaining checkout process and confirming the order!
Why must I go through the actual PayPal process for this to work? I was under the impression that VirtueMart / Joomdle was controlling the transaction and as long as I completed the transaction it would then communicate with Moodle to enroll me into that course!
I guess I just don't understand!

Hi.
If you see the docs about VM integration here:
www.joomdle.com/wiki/VirtueMart
You can see that a limitation listed is "paypal only" (unless with custom patches to VM).

I see - what are all the patches that are available for Joomdle and where can I locate them?
Also Moodle has the "Enrollment Key" option - is that something that can be used through Joomdle and if so how?
Thanks for the help!

VM patches be found here:
www.joomdle.com/wiki/Developer
Enrolment key is not integrated into Joomdle. But you still can use it, setting off the enrol button and showing "go to course" instead.
If the course requires a key, it will be moodle directly who deals with it.

Im starting to get it... I think!
So here is my scenerio:
1 x Course is a paid course
1 x Course requires Enrollment Key
1 x Course is Free
What Global Configuration "Detail View" Changes do I set withing Joomdle?
The reason I am asking is because if VirtueMart is taking care of the purchase do I still want to enable "Show Paypal Button"?
Also if I enable "Show Go to Course Button" it overrides the "Show Enrol Button" as well as "Buy Course" Button which in turn prohibits the user from being able to enroll!
Ideas???

Buy course button is shown when the course is on sell on shop, regardless of global config.
Paypal button is other way of selling courses, not using VM.
You cannot now mix "Enrol" and "Go to Course".
I would use "Go to course":
- If it is free, it will ask the user to enrol
- If it has a key, it will ask for it
