Cannot add functions in new installation was created by David Alcock
I have installed Moodle 2 and Joomla 1.5 with success. I have attempted to install Joomdle RO.54 and all appears okay until I get to adding functions. There are no Joomdle functions available in the list, only Moodle functions. Also, when I run a system check I get a red cross against the last item, web service. Can you help please?

Did you install joomdle inside Moodle? This functions are only there once you have installed Joomdle in moodle (not joomlde in joomla).

Chris, yes I did install inside Moodle (as far as I know). I followed all the instructions for creating a user, and new service, etc just as the installation guide asks us to do. I also made all the preparations and installations for Joomla. When I look at my Joomla home page I have got the services there on the left side menu, but none of the links work. I assume that this is because of the "functions" problem that I've got.

Yes you will need the services / functions in Moodle to do anything. If you do not have them, this would suggest that there is an issue with your joomdle installation in Moodle. I would double check that: check directory location, check unzipped, check its there :), perhaps remove and re-do the Moodle side.

I have uninstalled all three; Joomla, Moodle, Joomdle and tried again. I have also tried it using Joomla 1.6 and the alpha version of Joomdle. I always get the same result. Installation completes perfectly but I cannot install the functions. I have unzipped the file and uploaded to the "auth" folder but Moodle cannot see them. Any more ideas, please?

OK. I see you are trying lots of things. I wouldn't worry to much about removing and installing etc over and over. In fact, you can even have the moodle side up and running even without Joomla installed.

For your functions. This must be sorted otherwise you cannot do anything. Have you clicked on Moodle's Notifications? What was the result of the upgrade?

Moodle notifications don't flag up a problem. I didn't find the instructions for installing the functions files very clear. What exactly should the path be once the files are uploaded? Am I correct in thinking it should be moodle/auth/joomdle/(and then the files from the zip) ?

Yes that is the correct path. Basically you need to:
- unzip the files into moodle/auth/joomdle
- visit notifications - this must be done. moodle will display many functions, just click the upgrade button
- then enable and configure joomdle for moodle
- create role
- create user
- assign user to role
- assign permissions to role
- add functions / services to role

One easy way to tell if your moodle/auth/joomdle is ok, is to remove it. Visit notifications. Then install than copy that directory up again and visit notifications one more time. If the functions are not visible, I would guess there is a problem outside of Joomdle.
