XIPT / JSPT for profile types was created by Jeff Paul
Just wondering if XIPT is fully functional? Is this the same as the paid JSPT form the same company, JoomlaXI ? It seems to offer much more flexibility in user groupings/profile types, etc but it won't be of any value if Joomdle doesn't pass this info to Moodle. I'd rather not pay the 49 dollars if it doesn't function.

What would happen if I define user roles or profile types in Joomla/JSPT that aren't available in Moodle? I assume roles such as a teacher, student or course creator would work, but what about custom types like parent, guardian or something else? Would it just leave the field blank or set a default?

As far as I know Moodle doesn't assign any rights with new accounts until you tell it to, but it would be wonderful if Joomdle could force these roles in.)

No rush on this.
Cheers

Yes this is the JSPT from JoomlaXI. At this moment the integration is only related to the profile type and not the security. www.joomdle.com/wiki/Jomsocial_Profile_Types

The objective of the integration was to allow parent and student relationships in Joomla to match Moodle but naturally this could be used for so much more.

Thanks Chris, you're right. The fields I'm trying to send from Joomla/Joomdle over to Moodle are related to the mdl_roles_assignments file rather than the mdl_user file, so the XIPT/JSPT isn't going to help with that anyway unless some kind soul has already written a mod to do so and would like to share it with us non-programmers. :cheer:

Perhaps you can describe a little more about what you are trying to do. Maybe there is an easy fix or maybe there is a work around that can achieve what you are trying to do.

Sure, I'll give it a try.

1. It's probably outside the intent of Joomdle, but the idea is to enroll new members through Joomla/JomSocial/Joomdle as Teachers rather than Students. Then they could gain access to the Moodle facilities to allow them set up courses. Our site is going to be geared as much or more to teachers and tutors (offering a variety of tools like video conferencing, Moodle LMS, etc) rather than students looking to take online classes (paid or free.)

2. I've obviously set up something wrong, but currently it appears that a new Joomla user only gets totally synched to Moodle after enrolling/entering a course. Teachers won't be doing this. For instance, after setting up a new account through JomSocial, checking that the 3 green checks are all in place under Joomdle users, and double-checking in Moodle that the account was actually created, I log in through Joomla/Jomsocial and this is what happens:

a. After log-in, if I go directly to the Joomdle E-Learning tab in JomSocial, it takes me to the Moodle front page but does not log into Moodle. Contrarily, if I first enrol in a new course or enter a course I'm already enrolled in, then I can go to the E-Learning tab and it will take me to the Moodle page logged in . . . but to "Overview of My Courses" rather than the Moodle Front Page. This would never work for teachers since they usually won't be enrolling in courses. I'd prefer that the E-Learning link always go to the Moodle front Page rather than a "My overview of my courses" since some users will never enrol in courses.

b. What leads me to believe that I have an authentication / roles / redirection / session key issue is what happens when I log out. If I log out through Joomla/JomSocial, everything seems fine with logouts and I'm redirected to the front Joomla page as intended. However, if I log out through Moodle, I get the dreaded "500 Internal Server error" in the Moodle wrapper. After I hit browser refresh, it usually reappears with the user logged out, but sometimes I have to refresh a second time to get Joomla to recognize (or at least show) that the user has logged out. Perhaps something in the Moodle session keys, type of authentication or the getout.php? Whatever it is, with the user set for Joomdle authentication, it always shows the error when I log out of Moodle directly.

Sorry for the confusion. At least I'm making two steps forward for every one step backwards and learning along the way. Cheers.
