[Closed] Getting Started - Installation Questions was created by Fluffy
Hello,
I'm a school teacher with a Joomla-based website: missmoeller.com
I am interested in utilizing Joomdle for my classes, and I understand that I have to have both Joomla and Moodle installed before I can integrate the two.
However, I'm not sure which directories I have to have them installed in. Do they have to be in the same directory? If so, how would that work if they both have index.php files?
If they must be in different directories, is it alright if I have Joomla in my main directory ( missmoeller.com ) and Moodle in a sub-directory (example: missmoeller.com/moodle ), or would they both need to be in sub-directories (example: homeurl/moodle and homeurl/joomla)?
I would like the overall Joomdle website to be visited from my main directory/url.
Thank you so much for any help you can offer me.

Hi there, welcome to the site.
Your preferred way is what most ppl would do: Joomla in the main directory and then moodle in a subdirectory off of that such as /moodle, /classes, or similar.
Let us know how you progress.

Thank you so much Chris. I managed to install Joomla and Moodle properly, but then I hit a snag regarding the xmlrpc extension.
Unfortunately, my host is GoDaddy. I was reading up on it from another forum post here, and it indicated that GoDaddy doesn't allow for that extension. Is this correct?
Source: www.joomdle.com/en/forum/r030-no-longer-...le-xml-rpc-in-phpini
If it's still the case that GoDaddy won't permit the xmlrpc extension, I'll just have to switch hosts. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind PMing me some suggestions for new hosts that would work better with a Joomdle website?
If GoDaddy has since begun to allow the xmlrpc extension, where might I find more information on how to install it?
Thank you so much for all your help again, Chris.

I am not aware of Godaddy changing their support for XML-RPC. I do know that another person was told the support was given but after much trial and error they abandoned Godaddy for others. This was much like my first experience where I had to 'prove' to Godaddy that it was not supported.
In terms of other hosting companies, there will be many. We use Hostgator for some of our testing servers. So far I am pleased with their services and support - thus the reason we took up an affiliate re-seller with them.
Do note, no matter which hosting company you choose, I would NOT use their auto installers for Joomla nor Moodle, especially moodle, as many do not load up all the Moodle libraries causing you problems later. So spend a little extra time manually installing rather than a lot of extra time later fixing things. Besides, this is a good way to learn the ins and outs of Joomla and Moodle.
