[Solved] Manage authentication Problem

I'm trying to install jmoodle for Moodle 1.9 according to the documentation. I make it through going to the notifications area to setup the jmoodle tables. The next step in the documentation tells me to go to Manage authentication where I should see jmoodle as an option. However, my Manage authentication tab is blank. The only thing on the page is the title"Manage authentication" but no other data is displayed.

I've followed the directions verbatim on a fresh install of moodle and cannot figure this out. Any ideas?

If you are getting a blank page, most probably is a problem in your Moodle installation.

Try removing Joomdle folder and visiting "manage auth" again, to see if it works at all.

Manage auth worked before I attempted to install moodle and works after again after I remove jmoodle.

Is it possible I need a higher php version? My current version is 5.2.17

I don't think so.

If you can look at server logas, you should see an error there. Maybe it is a memory issue?

I am experiencing the same issue but with different versions:

• Moodle 2.2+ (Build: 20111209)
• MySQL 5.5.18-cll
• PHP 5.3.8
• Joomla 1.7.3
• Joomdle 0.61

I have followed the wiki instructions exactly. Moodle is configured with the default installation with only the Joomdle wiki modifications implemented ( www.joomdle.com/wiki/Installation ). All Moodle pre-requisites are installed & configured.

The problem occurs when I install the auth_joomdle plugin - essentially you get a blank page when you click 'Manage Authentication' under Plugins (with just the 'Manage Authentication heading & breadcrumbs showing in the top half and blank below).

Checked thorugh the PHP error & access logs and nothing appears when you access the page.
Tried in IE and Mozilla - same issue in both.

If you go to Plugins Overview, you can see 'Joomdle' (2008080178) as an extension - it says Disabled. If you click Settings next to it, you get the blank page again.

If you remove the Joomdle directory from the Auth folder, it all starts working again. Joomdle folder permissions 755 & inherits normal ftp owner/psasrv group. Moodle sits under the root in its own folder (/httpdocs/moodle)

The server is a virtual server with Apache & FastCGI configured as default. Safe mode off, open_basedir enabled but allowing the moodledata folder outside the root. 1024M memory limit in php.

Response header is 200 OK for www.sitename.com/moodle/admin/auth_config.php?auth=joomdle .
No errors in the browser error console.

I tried removing the Joomdle v0.61 plugin and replacing with v0.6 and same issue occurs.

So essentially I can't access the Joomdle plugin settings at all and it causes the Manage Authentication page to show a mostly blank page when the Joomdle authentication plugin is installed. If you remove the joomdle folder from the auth folder, the system is OK (i.e. no blank pages & you can access and manage authentication settings).

Any ideas or other things to test would be gratefully appreciated?

Hi all.

It turns out Moodle 2.2 (and maybe latest 1.9?) removed a file referenced (but not really used) by Joomdle, so it just exits with a fatal error.
You can fix the code yourself, just removing this line from moodle/auth/joomdle/auth.php:
require_once($CFG->dirroot.'/search/lib.php');

Hopefully we will be releasing Joomdle R0.7 tomorrow, with this fix applied.
