Hosted Window 2012 server
Joomla: 2.5.8
Joomdle: 0.9
Moodle: 2.4.1+

I'm using Joomdle for creating/syncronising users.
Only the user hooks-Joomdle plugin is activated i Joomla.

Everything have run smoothly since the beginning of 2013.
Suddenly last week both login to Joomla and Moodle makes the sites hang for many minutes, until timeoot.
Also when trying to open the Joomdle integration pages in the Joomla admin-panel the sites hangs.
Nothing is changed in the configuration.

When disabling the user hooks Joomdle-plugin in Joomla, and the Joomdle-login and the Joomdle Web-services in Moodle. it is possible to login to Joomdle (not to Moodle where the user-authentications are set to Joomdle).

Have asked the Hoster if changes have been made to the server, they said no.
Have looked in the Server logs without finding anything stange.

Hope someone can help me with some trial and error suggestions.

Thank You in Advance

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you are having problems. While there may appear to be no changes. The probability is that something has changed somewhere. Code does not normally stop working if there is no change to the environment. Changes could be the slightest for eg. new php, php configuration setting, different ip addresses, or dns, port, proxy settings, so many things can impact the successfully connectivity.

If you are getting time out errors it is likely that joomla cannot find moodle. Do you have all green ticks in the health check?

Thanks for the reply
That's one of the Issues, when trying to open the Joomdle-pages in the admin-panel, the site hangs.
Have tried to change some of the config-parameters, to see if it is possible to run the System-check.
When changing the Moodle-URL to some non-valid value, then it is possible to run the System-check.
The 3 first system-checks are green, and naturally the 3 last turns red.

OK but that still does not necessarily address the issue but could be a symptom. If it was working then something was changed and that's the thing that will need to be either changed back or at least working from their to make an appropriate adjustment.

With regards to your latest post, the health check should still come up regardless of the url setting. Perhaps it is timing out - slowly. Did you check the debug logs for any error messages.

Have checked the logs, that I can find (Root of the Site, and wwwroot\logs), but can't find anything indicating errors.

Is there a simple way to check if the XML-RPC protocol is functioning correctly ?.
As far as I rember from the time of installation, the health-check did quickly report configuration-errors, ie wrong configuration in Moodle.
I'm afraid of that something have gone wrong with the XML-RPC on the hosted server. (I'm using "file_get_contents" and not cURL)

Any Joomdle page? Even the configuration one?
If only the others, it sure seems what Chris says: time out issue, probably due to connection problems that make Joomdle and Moodle not able to talk to each other.

Ok, then it is sure a connection problem: joomla cannot connect to Moodle.
