Can't login if joomdle hooks plugin is activated.

I have a new installation of Joomla 3 and a new installation of Moodle 2.5.2 (Build: 20130909) and a new installation of Joomdle 0.92.

I have been through the joomdle integration steps and completed everything correctly (from appearances)

When I try to log in, the screen rejects the login with an error message: Warning. Unable to connect to LDAP server.

If I turn off joomdle hooks plugin, the problem goes away but so does my integration between moodle and joomla.

I see topics that seem to have similar issues, but no solutions.

Any suggestions?

Switch off your LDAP as you are using Joomla as your login.

Thanks. I didn't turn it on and there wasn't a problem before.

But now login hangs and times out with a 504 Gateway timeout ("Gateway Time-out. The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.)

I know I'm likely missing something simple but I am missing it. Sigh.

And I forgot to mention, if you reenter the url (not a refresh), I am logged in.

Not as convenient as I was looking for.

I am appreciative of your help.

And I did check the login module and it is not set to encrypt. It is running standard.

OK so it was working before because you mention it was a new installation.

Therefore, if it was working before, there must have been a change made and simply reverting to the previous setup / configuration should fix your problem. Failing this, looking back at the message supplied, Joomdle does not know about LDAP at all. This would either be as a result of Moodle looking for LDAP or having Joomla look for an LDAP server. Based on the fast that when you disable the Joomdle plugins you do not get the error message is would seem logical that it is Moodle looking for LDAP because when you log into Joomla there is no call out to Moodle being made anymore. Either way one of them is looking for LDAP. Check your joomla plugins and also your Moodle authentication methods. If you are not using LDAP, it should not be configured to do so. The gateway timeout is probably related in that it cannot find the LDAP.
