Dear Friends,

It's been years we are using joomle and it works very well.

We changed a little strategy in our joomla website to automatically enroll users from joomla to moodle after succesfull payment through Akeeba Subscription.

When we did the first test to enroll a user to moodle automatically, we got the error of XML-RPC Error (404): Unknown error

This error happens only in our joomla home page , there is no problem with other pages.

We turned the debuging mode on in Moodle, it did not help.

When we turn off the joomdle hook plug in the site will load up without any problem but there is no connection with moodle which sounds quite logic.

So the problem might be with joomdle and akeeba subscription.

What are we gonna do

Thanks,

We also set the Akeeba Subcription to change Joomla user group.
There is no problem with our moodle and other internal pages of joomla, we only have problem witht he first page of Joomla or the main domain !

Moodle should always give you more info about the 404 error when you enable debugging.

Dear Antonio,

We found out the problem was because of the username bad character. One of the students used persian font (UTF8) for his username. I am sure you can fix this in next releases, because it is a little bit out of our control if we face such problem again, we have to manually check and remove that user !

Another issue that we found, is that we saw that the speed of the site is acceptable when we disable joomdle hook, the firstbyte took 16 seconds without joomdle hook, but when we enabled the joomdle hook we saw that the site is going to be very slow the first byte loading took about 30 seconds !

Do you know what reason is behind this issue?

Good to know that you found the problem. Can you share the username giving problems? I can test it locally and comment.

As for spped: it will depend on how many Joomdle things you are loading. Of course it is slower because it needs to connect to Moodle.
That said, joomdlehooks plugin should only act on login/registration, so if turning it off makes a difference in a normal page load, it means some other extension is triggering some user event. I saw this happening with some versions of Jomsocial, for example.

Dear Antonio,

The current problem we have is the speed of the website.
If we make the joomdle user hook enable, it takes over 50 seconds to load.
When we turn it off there will be no problem with it at all.

The problem is somehow linked to Jomsocial and its modules on the homepage too. Because when we disable the modules and turn the joomdle hook, the speed is also OK.

Jomsocial says it is because of the third party plug ins ( joomdle hook), What do you say? what is the solution at least?
