JOMSOCIAL USERS of version 2.8.x and Activity Stream w/Joomd was created by D N
There is a bug with Third Party activity stream items in JomSocial 2.8

I just beat my head against the wall for 2 hours trying to figure out why my stream items from Moodle were not showing up and finally found this....

Oh -sorry.

A diligent user provided this patch that has made the rounds throughout the community. Not sure it has been committed yet or not - but it certainly worked for me....
