You are trying to implement a block? Perhaps this is just terminology, but blocks are in Moodle not Joomla / Joomdle. Or are you trying to create a Joomla module with a quiz?

If the later, install the quiz module to display a moodle quiz. This will not link back to a particular quiz however as quizzes belong in courses. If you have a particular course quiz that you wish to display, you create a custom html module and link is to the course quiz. Then publish this immediately below your joomla quiz module to make it look like the same module.

Hi Thanks for your reply, i have been away.

what i want to achieve is to show links, may be in a block, such that users can directly go to do a quiz. To be precise quizzes for self assessment is my main objective only on my site, can i achieve this out of the box or there must be some customizations?

your direction and advice is highly appreciated.

Hi Vinnie,

Again, it is important to clarify if you mean a Moodle "block" or a Joomla "module". They are different and require very different implementations.

Hi Chris,

am very grateful for your assistance.

i would like to use the joomla! joomdle front end with moodle 2.4, so what is the best way to achieve this bearing in mind the main goal is to publish many quizzes on the website? probably a moodle block?

sorry for not being clear, and hope now am more clearer.

Thanks a million.

In Moodle quizzes do not belong on their own, they belong to a course. This course you can display inside Joomla. Publishing a moodle block with just a quiz and having it appear in Joomla will not work directly.

Probably the best way to move forward, would be to play with a course in moodle, create a few quizzes and see how they are used.

Alternatively, you may wish to look at a joomla specific quiz extension that stores the questions directly in joomla and allows you to create quizzes directly with various options. You can find these in the JED of Joomla.

I would do as Chris say: create quizes in a course.
Then, you would need to enrol all users in that course, so they can access the quizes.
Finally, you could create a custom HTML module, manually entering links to all the courses.

Hi Chris, Antonio

Thanks a lot for directing me on the options available. i really appreciate. i also had a look at JED and reviews of some of the extensions and some look impressive. i kind of prefer moodle, its better don't you agree? but i will play around with both.

thanks, am going to dig deeper and decide what fits my bill.
