Hello all!

We have set up a test site running Joomla 2.5.8, JomSocial 2.8.1, Joomdle R0.9 and Moodle 2.4, and are having issues with the registration of new users. I am not sure this is a Joomdle issue, but wanted to post here in case it is.

Step 1 (basic information, username, email, etc.) works fine, and registrants progress to Step 2 (custom information, such as date of birth, workplace, expertise, etc.). After clicking on 'Register' users receive a proxy error and never get to Step 3 (upload of an avatar):

The proxy server could not handle the request POST /joomla/index.php/jomsocial/register/registerProfile.
Reason: Error reading from remote server

Looking in the admin panel, the user was successfully created, but not enabled nor activated, in Joomla. The reason why I think this could be related to Joomdle is that only the Joomla user is created. Joomdle and Moodle users are not created. Users receive an email containing their username and password. However, the second email (containing the activation link) is never sent.

Interestingly, if users try to login to the platform, they at first receive an error message. However, they then receive the activation link, can click on it, and then are both enabled and activated.

To know if it is Joomdle related, disable joomdlehooks plugin and test registration. If problem persists, it is not related to joomdle.

Hi Antonio,

Thank you for the answer. I have disabled the plugin and the problem persists, so I will look for help on the JomSocial and/or Joomla forums.

Just in case someone else needs it down the line, quoted from the JomSocial forum:

I am sure your issue caused by the apache CentOS and similiar with this apache-http-server.18135.n6.nabble.com/E...erver-td4759216.html I suggest you contact your hosting provider, maybe caused by httpd version 2.2.3 and need upgrade to 2.2.4

Hello! Just to update you on this: the solution I quoted above did not work. Instead we had to allow access to google maps on out test server. For some reason the JomSocial registration process requires it.
