What am I doing wrong? was created by Fernando Pérez Cos
Hi,
I'm using Joomla 3.0.3, Moodle 2.4.1 and Joomdle 0.91
When clicking on system check I receive the following errors:
Joomla to Moodle HTTP connectivity Joomla cannot connect to Moodle
Moodle to Joomla HTTP connectivity Moodle cannot connect to Joomla
Joomdle Web Services Received empty response from Moodle
I have followed all the instructions at www.joomdle.com/wiki/System_health_check
A hostgator technician has done this: "for reference, I've configured the server to use the php.ini file in the / directory on the thespanishprogram.com cPanel, and enable_url_fopen is set to on, and I've added the .so extension for the RPC extension, so server-side it should be configured properly from what I can tell."
Despite this, I'm still experiencing the same errors.
Any help would be welcome as I'm stuck at the moment.
Thanks.

It seems for some reason your Joomla server cannot connect to the Moodle server.
If they are on the same domain, maybe the server is blocking connections to itself.
Check also any additional sercurity measures, as some cause this behaviour (firewall, htaccess directives...)

Hola Antonio,
This is what hostgator people said:
There's no real issue on the server that I can see blocking it, or htaccess rules, firewalls, and the server is accepting connections without issue. So unfortunately, there's nothing we can see from Hostgator's end. I apologize for any inconvenience, but any further troubleshooting on this is also out of our scope of support.
Is there anything I could have done wrong?
Gracias.

Well, you may have configured incorrectly the Moolde url in Joomla.

Thanks Antonio,
Now it has changed.
I wrote the address without the "www." and it has improved a bit.
Now the error messages are just two:
Joomla to Moodle HTTP connectivity OK (That's already solved)
However i still get these two errors:
Moodle to Joomla HTTP connectivity Moodle cannot connect to Joomla
Joomdle Web Services Received empty response from Moodle
Could you please give me some other ideas.
Thanks for your help.
Fernando.

The main issue has not changed as the first item to solve is your third "empty response from Moodle". As Antonio has said, basically Joomla cannot find Moodle. This is usually the result of an incorrect url to Moodle. Alternatively, it could be the correct url but it is being redirected by your httaccess or something else. Eg. www vs non www as you have discovered are different domains.
Without knowing what you are typing in, it is difficult to comment.
As for hostgator, I have installed on hostgator many times in the past so doubt there is an issue in their network / server configuration - of course their setup could be different than the last time I used their servers.
