System Health Check was created by Ethelyn Holmes
Hi,

I'm new to both Moodle and Joomdle. I installed Moodle and Joomle with Joomla 3.0.3 and I'm trying to a view the courses I entered in Moodle in the Joomdle Courses module and it's empty. So I tried to use the System Health Check and I can't find it. Is it supposed to be with "System Information"?

Also, I need to put together a "demo" for the client showing a student/teacher/admin login. Is there documetnation/YouTube video on that? Please help!

Thanks!

The system health check is part of Joomdle.

The documentation is found here www.joomdle.com/wiki/Main_Page or can be reached from the menu above.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply! I did the System Check and got errors on the last three items:
1) Joomla cannot connect to Moodle
2) Moodle cannot connect to Joomla
3) Received empty response from Moodle

When I tried to add the server IP (96.125.164.217) to XML-RPC Hosts in Moodle Administration, I couldn't. It gave me an error saying, "The IP address 96.125.164.217 does not represent a valid trusted host." How can I get around this?

I checked my Web Services settings and they're fine. Please advise. Thanks in advance!

XMLRPC hosts have nothing to do. In fact, you don't need to go there if you are using Moodle 2.x.

Your problem is a connection one: joomla cannot connect to moodle, probably due to server security restrictions.

Hi,

I contacted HostGator support and told them that you suggested there may be some security issues. Here's their reply:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting HostGator. We regret to hear you're experiencing issues with the Joomdle plugin. We've taken a look at the settings within Joomla, as well as the relevant server logs. Unfortunately we weren't able to locate any indication that either installation was hitting mod_security rules as described in one of the links to the Joomdle forums.

There was an extra space appended to the end of the Moodle URL, however, removing it did not help. It might be related to using the temporary URL instead of a FQDN though that would depend on how the plugin is actually coded. At this time the error does not appear to be related to a server side setting. If you have any questions about specific settings, or need anything clarified please let us know - we'd be happy to help.

Best regards,

I have a temporary URL for the development of the client's website, because this client already has an existing website with the desired name. The domain is "elfpath.com", but it's being redirected to " gator409.hostgator.com/~epfound/ " with Moodle at " gator409.hostgator.com/~epfound/Moodle ". Could this and how the plugin is coded be the problem? If so, how can I fix it? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, domain should not be the problem, so I don't know what is causing the errors.

How long will it be before your domain is resolved? If just a day or two, perhaps work on something else until the domain name is resolved across.

Hi,

I'm afraid the domain name resolution won't take place until this Joomla/Moodle connection issue is resolved. Is there a way I can discreetly send you my Moodle and Joomla backend credentials so you can look at my settings? Perhaps your trained eyes can quickly catch something that's totally eluding me.

Thanks much!

Hi Antonio,

Several weeks ago before I started this project, I emailed development@joomdle.com to ask about what to charge for a project like this and about your services and never got a reply. I'm sending the credentials for Joomla and Moodle and request an estimate of your services should I need them, so I can let the client know.

Thanks much!
