Problems configuring Joomdle 0.9 and Moodle 2.5 was created by Fernando Tavolaro de Castro
Hi everybody!

I just discovered the Jomdle extension and I am trying to use it to configure my Joomla! and Moodle websites but I am having some problems.

First of all, I have a Joomla! version 2.5.11 installed on the main directory of my website. It works fine and I didn't see any problem with it. XMLRPC is enabled and all the other configurations are OK.

In this Joomla! installation I have the Joomdle 0.92 installed. It seems to work fine, but the system check is showing some errors. The errors are:

OK - XMLRPC PHP Extension
OK - Joomdlehooks User Plugin enabled
OK - cURL Enabled

Error - Joomla to Moodle HTTP connectivity Joomla cannot connect to Moodle
Error - Moodle to Joomla HTTP connectivity Moodle cannot connect to Joomla
Error - Joomdle Web Services An unexpected error happened: 404: Unknown error

I have installed Moodle 2.5 and after some problems to make it work properly, I finally made it run 100%. But the problems on Moodle still persists. My Moodle is installed in the same server in a /moodle directory.

I followed all the steps in this tutorial: www.joomdle.com/wiki/Preparing_Moodle_20 and still can't make it work. My main site has www but my Moodle installation doesn't use www. This is another thing that I tried but couldn't change.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Fernando.

Enable debugging in Moodle to get more info about the 404 error.

Hi Antonio!

I enabled the debugging mode on Moodle and started receiving more information about the errors. I think the fact that I cannot connect Joomdle and Moodle correctly can be a reason for them.

I received this error from the Joomdle Web Services: An unexpected error happened: 28194976: Method "joomdle_system_check" does not exist | ERRORCODE:

Also, when I try to create a new menu item with a Joomdle option, I receive errors like this: Course XML-RPC Error (28194976): Method "joomdle_list_courses" does not exist | ERRORCODE:

I either cannot acces the options of User, Course Requests and Forum on the main menu of the Joomdle component because I receive the same error.

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards,
Fernando.

One possibility is that you do not have all the Joomdle methods in Moodle loading. Did you add all the Joomdle srevices www.joomdle.com/wiki/Installing_Joomdle_...functions_to_service

Also, I notice in you first post you say Joomla is www and moodle is not www. This should really be consistent since www and non www are different domains. Having everything the same is easier and visually nicer too.

Hi Chris!

Thanks a lot for your and Antonio's help. Enabling the debugging mode made me see the errors and your last post helped me to fix 2 of 3 errors.

Finally both sites are on the same domain (including the www part).

Now the only error that persists is the last one: Joomdle Web Services -> An unexpected error happened: 28194976: Method "joomdle_system_check" does not exist | ERRORCODE:

I am still researching to fix the last error and any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Fernando.

You need to add the functions to the services in Moodle.

Hi!

Finally it worked perfectly. I had to re-create the service, assign it to the user again and finally create a new token, as I saw in another topic.

Thanks a lot for all your help, it was really useful.

Best regards,
Fernando.
