Ho to showcase courses was created by Cecilia
Hi to everyone.
I'm trying Joomdle and so far I love it. After tweaking a little bit the configuration on both sides I finally got everything to work.
Now I'm in the process of adding courses to my web site.
The question I have is which is the best way to showcase the courses? My idea is to show all the available courses in the middle of the front page.
I`ve tried with the Joomdle Courses moodle but it displays courses as a list, and I would like to display them as images or in a more fancy way.
I was wondering if anyone could give a tip on how to do this or share the way they did this on their sites..
Thanks
Cecilia

Hi.
There is nothing in Joomdle like you want: a module showing images, We are more into internals and data, and less into the fancy stuff, but we are always wanted to add some if possible/useful!
I think most people who are selling courses are using the shop modules/pages to showcase the courses.
You can use the joomdle views, which shows course images, if they have it, but I am quite sure this is not what you are looking for (you want to have them in front-page, so it must be a module, and the layout of those views is not suited for this presentation anyway).
So, first question would be: are you running a shop component? Have you tried using its modules?
If you are not using the shop: how would you see this new Joomdle module working? I mean in terms of layout and data:
- I can think showing the first pic in course description, and the name of the course
- have you any examples of similar modules we can learn/borrow?

Thanks Antonio.
I haven`t configured a shopping component yet since I'm just starting to integrate the platform.
But, since you mention it... I think that would be my next step....
The problem is that, since Joomdle doens`t generate an item of each course created in Moodle, there is no way to use them to showcase the cuorses...
Thanks for your help

One question that you should be asking yourself is, how often will the courses change? Not in terms of content but in terms of which courses are being offered. If there is only a little change, you can make any presentation you want just by having an article with your appropriate images and linking directly to the courses, course details, views, etc. You could do the same with a module or a slider of some type.
On the other hand, if you are always having new courses then you will want flexibility. You will still need to manage images, etc. manually as these are not in the course.
