[Closed] Buy courses for children and and for personal use was created by Shiv Kumar
Joomla 2.5, moodle 2.7, virtuemart 2.6.6 and joomdle 0.95
I just started exploring features of joomdle and found that (please correct if I am wrong)
(1) if I set 'Buy courses for children' to yes, I can buy courses for children but not for myself . There may be situation where I want to enroll myself for some purchased course. This may be done on the same page where parent enroll children to courses. If this is not possible, can you accept it as feature request for next release?
(2) On Shop Integration settings I have to mention 'Courses category' i.e. category id of virtuemart where courses should be kept for e-commerce purposes. But how can I synchronize moodle course categories with virtuemart course categories. Yes I can create same categories in virtuemart and transfer courses to related category after publishing them using joomdle sell on shop feature. But in that case course enrolment stops working as category id is changed. Can it not be possible that joomdle sell on shop feature reads fresh category id every time a new course is published in shop so that it goes to desired category keeping e-commerce function intact.

1. You are right, this is not possible right now. We'll see if we can add a config option to also show yourself in the list.
2. You can't sync categories.
What you shoul do is:
- Import courses to shop
- Add course products to any categories you want, but keeping them also in the original category cofigured in joomdle.

Hi Antonio,
is there a work around to allow the following situations:
1) a parent buy two of the same course one for himself and one for his child ie they both partecipate to the same course.
2) a parent buy one course just for himself ie he is the one attending the course.
Thanks for any usefull advice.

Antonio,
therefore, as far as the parent position is concerned the only way is to have two different users:
The first user is "parent as a buyer" : he buys courses for himself and his child, and he enrolled his child and himself (with a second user like "parent as a course participant")
The second user is "parent as a course participant" : he is enrolled in a course by the "parent as a buyer" user
Am i understanding right?
Thank for your advice

I am sorry, but I did not understand you.
Process would be:
a) parent user registers to site
b) parent user creates account for child
c) parent user buys 2 of the same course
d) parent goes to assign courses page, and selects child user and his own user to be enroled to course
d) is not currently possible, as parent user will not show in the list to be assigned to course

Antonio,
What I try to say is that to get the parent enrolled in the course a second account for the parent is needed.
An account created by the parent himself with his own information so that your point b) becomes:
b) Parent user creates account for child AND a new account for himself.
In so doing (after having purchased two courses) in the assign course pages two users are available for course-participant paring:
1) The child
2) The parent
Therefore your point d) becomes:
d) Parent goes to assign courses page, and selects child user and his own user (created at point b) to be enrolled to course.
After this process, there are three users:
1) User 1: is the parent who register the child and him self
2) User 2: the child registered by the parent to allow course enrolment
3) User 3: the parent registered by the parent (User 1, ie himself) to allow “self registration” process
Am I right or am I missing something?
Thanks
Rob

Rob this will work. The only 'thing' that knows there are two parent userids is you. The technology will just see three ids, 1 parent and 2 "children".

Chris,
thanks a lot, I got that thing of three ids.
Having cleared this issue I have more... if I may..
What about the following situation that I am facing at the moment:
Having enabled the parent/children option when a user (none of the above) register and buy a course (quantity one) for his own use the course is no longher ready available in "my course" page as it was when the parent/children option was disabled but is available in "assign courses" page, showing quantity 1 (one) pending for paring with intended user
But, as the intended user is the buyer himself do I have to set up second user as in the above case or this behaviour depends upon an error of mine in setting up the plugin ?
Thanks for your advice
