Antonio,
The geniuses I work for have decided to replace our Joomla CMS with Wordpress.
Any advice?

Big mistake, IMHO
WP can be integrated with moodle but only the SSO using the "External DB authentication" plugin but is an old version not updated lately. So probably will not work with last WP and moodle versions.
Actually there options to convert WP sites to Joomla and have the blog integrated in the same CMS. This would be a good solution.
Anyway, WP never was like Joomla. It's a blog even many fanboys want to create shopping carts, CMS and even LMS with it. So, as we would say here, change of company
