Course Documents cannot be accessed unless user manually logs into Moodle? was created by Dan
When a user is logged into Joomla with the same username and password that is set in Moodle they cannot access Course Documents. What is the setting that allows users to access these files without having to go to Moodle please?

Hi.
I don't know what you mean, as I don't know what documents you refer to....
Is SSO working fine? ie: if you log in to Joomla and open Moodle afterwards, are you logged in?

OK, we upload documents to accompany courses. They are available as links in the course page that shows in Joomla.
If I log into Joomla I then need to login to Moodle, so is there something else to do with SSO I need to set?

When SSO says "on the same domain" does a different subdomain affect that?

Yes, different subdomain is a different domain.
SSO can still work on subdomains, just make sure that redirect-less SSO is disabled in Joomdle config.

OK, but that seems to mean a user logs into Moodle from a different tab which makes it a bit clunky. Unless I've missed something?

If SSO is working, when you log in to Joomla you are automatically logged into Moodle. If that's not happening, SSO is not working for you.
