Using joomdle as a full service college portal system

We are currently investigating solutions for a college portal that integrates with Moodle. Someone recommended joomdle in the Moodle user forums.

Here are our needs:

1. Single sign on with Moodle
2. Offices (for example, registrar, student advising, etc.) and committees (for example, faculty professional development). We would need to be able to name and display them accordingly. If we are able to repurpose the Moodle course shells, they can't be labeled as courses and must either appear on a different page than users courses or the current My Home page, as long as the different types of "course shells" could be labeled accordingly.
4. Display college announcements unrelated to classes or the LMS. So, they also would need to display on a separate page than regular Moodle announcements.
5. Customizable frontpage that displays all of a users courses, offices, committees, and announcements. Ideally, we would like to be able to segregate access to certain "offices" and announcements based upon campus location (we have three) or majors without having to enroll new users in each office.

Can joomdle do something like this out of the box? If not, has anyone created a custom solution using joomdle?

TIA

Todd

Of course. That's the first Joomdle function :)

Does these offices be linked to moodle in some way or are just simple "groups" that can be created in Joomla?
I'm thinking in Jomsocial that can create its own portal inside Joomla.

Yes, you can use the Joomla frontpage to show announcements or wharever you want.

All you could do with a Joomla single site can be done with Joomdle. If you register the users in differents groups then they can see different content depending of the group or using Jomsocial create separated portals for them as I indicated before.

I have a follow up question. Our Moodle site is hosted by moodlerooms. Has anyone integrated joomdle with moodlerooms? They have a closed system and any custom integrations come with a cost.
