Moodle slow? Set up opcache. was created by Jason E
For a long time I simply thought moodle was just a big slow hog. I started off running on a shared server then I moved to vps thinking that would help, but it didn't. I tried adding cores and ram to the vps but that didn't really help either.
This last time I did a moodle upgrade it flagged that opcache was not installed. So I finally got around to inatalling it on my vps.
Moodle is much faster now. It's like night and day.

Thanks for the tip. I always see the warning too, but I have never set up opcache yet. I will try next time :)

I tried setting up php-intl also but had no luck with that. Something with CentOS and that.
But from what I was reading this is only for language support and I'm not sure it would help performance.
