Configure access to reports within the parent-child relation was created by david acton
Hi, this is probably more to do with Moodle than Joomdle but I have spent days trying to find an answer on the Moodle forums and pages without success.
My question is this: I wish to enable, in Joomdle terminology, parents to view Moodle reports (basic and interactions) for their children's activity on the site. At the moment I can only access this for all users as a site Admin in Moodle. Trawling through the Moodle roles and permissions does not seem to give me this option for parents (non-editing teachers?) but I am convinced it must be in there somewhere.
Does anyone have the solution or any ideas please?
Thank you
David

Have you enabled Parents options in Joomdle? Also which reports are you referring to?

Hi Chris, thank you for your reply.
Yes I have enabled the parent-child relationship and it all works fine. The question is about Moodle really but I wondered if anyone with experience of Joomdle had come across this. Moodle provides reports of user activity (if you log in as site admin and select a course, there is a link to the reporting pages at the top of the page before you enter the course). It is this feature I wish to enable to that parents can see the progress of child accounts that they have set up but only the ones they have set up. At the moment the site admin can see everything.
Does that help?
Cheers David

Hello All, I think I am getting closer to asking the right question here. Having played around (in Moodle) with configurable reports and user permissions I now see that the "parent" user has no report access permissions anyway. I had assumed that the role assigned here would be non-editing teacher but it seems that is not the case (if I am understanding this correctly). I have looked through the user guides and forums but cannot find any guidance on this. Is there something in the user guide about Moodle roles from Joomdle user registrations? I found the Profile Types settings but these do not apply to Virtuemart.
My setup is Joomla 2.5.9/Virtuemart 2.0.20b/Moodle 2x
Cheers David

Closer again, I now think that the Joomdle parent is assigned the role of authenticated user in Moodle, as is the child. Is there a way to change this so that the parent is assigned to non-editing teacher and the child to student within that teacher's control?
Because we are using Virtuemart, there seems to be no way to set this up in the Joomdle config.

No, and I don't think that makes sense: teacher is for courses, not users.

Hi Everyone. My colleagues and I have been researching this for days now with no success. If anyone has any ideas we would be most grateful as I am sure the functionality we seek is one that many users would want.
In short, we would like Joomdle users with the "parent" role to be able to view Moodle activity logs for the "children" that they have registered and assigned to a course/courses. I can see that super admin users in Moodle can see the whole activity picture but we would like to restrict the activity view to child accounts per parent.
Can anyone help please?
David

Hi David,
I am looking at something for Parents to view kids activity in terms of progress in courses, login activity etc. But this will not be ready for a number of months yet. Also, I have not yet discussed with Antonio how to bring this into Joomdle as it is a separate extension at the moment. If you can define more specifically what information / details you would like to track, I can see if it is in the pipeline.
