[Solved] XML-RPC Error (404): Unknown error was created by Per-Helge Aurdal
I get the same error: «XML-RPC Error (404): Unknown error» when I do a first installation of Joomdle for access to Moodle.
The behaviour is strange:
a) IF I make a spelling error in the URL for the Moodle site I can look at the list of users in Joomdle. The System Check passes only the three first checks and fails on the last three
However:
b) IF the URL is correct, it is no longer possible to see the list of users. I get the error there too.
The Joomdle System Check passes the first 5 checks, and fails on the last one: Joomdle Web Services. And the error again...
I have ran out of options! Anyone a clue?
:S :S :S

Hi there,
I assume you are using Joomla V1.0 ?
This could be caused by a few things. Likely to be a Moodle configuration issue. Best is to enable debugging in Moodle to get the exact error message.
Some possibilities might be incorrect URLS, you have not added all the joomdle functions in moodle.

- What are the versions of Joomla, Joomdle, Moodle?
- What are the urls you have entered in both Joomla and Moodle (you can just place mydomain.com to mask your domain)?

Hola,
"Notice: Undefined property: stdClass::$customusermenuitems in /home/u770489121/public_html/moodle/user/lib.php on line 890"
¿Qué puede ser?

Hi again!
I have used the newest versions of all sw:
That is
Joomla has Version 3.4.1
Joomdle has versjon 1.0.1
Moodle has Version 2.8
The plug in has Version 2008080241, release 1
I have installed Version 2008080232, relase 0.95, first as there is a bug in the instalation procedure. The sequence of Versions is mixed up in the moodle Library....
Anyhow, I copied the files for the release 1 manually as the release 0.95 did not have a Field for a token FROM Moodle to Joomla.
According to the installation procedure for the plugin in Moodle for reaching Joomla/Joomdle one has to create a dedicate role and create a user for the communication, create a webservice for Joomdle, create a token, authorize the use of the communication etc. And include all procedures containing "joomdle" as legale procedures to the web service. I have done all this, several times.
I have reinstalled Moodle and Joomla several times, on the same domain as www.mydomain.com for Joomla and www.mydomain.com/moodle for Moodle., and I have installed Moodle and Joomla on two different domains as www.myJoomla.com and www.myMoodle.com .
I have discussed the use of possible firewall settings that could make obstacles for the xml-rpc protocol. The technical manager for the server HW tells us that he has no restrictions on the use of the xml-rpc protocoll. Especially when both Joomla and Moodle are pleced on the same domain.
I have really ran out of options.

Ehm, suddenly everything is 100%.
The technical manager at Our operations site claims to have done nothing...but he wanted me to try again, and it Works!
After four days in despair!
Case closed!

Hi Per-Helge.
I am glad it is working.
In case you get the same error again: the best thing to do is to enable debugging in Moodle to get more detailed info, and usually that helps tracking down the problem.

Thanks for the info, but we have the plugin in Moodle site for reference only. You should always install the Moodle plugin that comes in the joomdle package you are installing, instead of downloading it separately.
Jose: please open a new topic with your problem
