Members go to Moodle edit profile was created by Arasp
Hi guys,

I just noticed that when my joomla users at www.ezaban.com go to my moodle website at www.lincolony.com , they automatically go to edit profile for the first time and they do not have any name or surname. Then they will have to add some information in their profile and then everything is ok.

Is it normal? Is there anyway to let Moodle get all the information of joomla?

Do you have first name and surname in Joomla somewhere? Normally Joomla has username (login id) and name. Where do you believe Moodle should take the surname from?

so in order to prevent moodle to go to edut profile page, should I provide all the information it needs as required field in joomla too?

My moodle also asks for city, coutnry and description too.

Yes, most of the time, Moodle will ask the user to complete their profile when the log in.

We use integration with Jomsocial, Tienda, etc. to provide this info in Joomla profile.

Can we get it done in Community Builder (comprofiler) in order to prevent Moodle to ask members for editing their profile? It might be a little bit annoying for members.

Can you give me the exact name of the tables that should be built in CB?

We are incorporating CB integration for next Joomdle release, that will let you map fields between CB and Moodle.

Will let you know when I have a version available in case you want to help with testing.

Hello,

Sure, I love to test it. You know I use my joomla and moodle into two different domains. and there are some bugs, they are not really bug but we better be able to customize them.
For example when a user logout from my moodle website it jumps to my joomla site.
It is not that much important but it better to let user to stay out there.

I also cannot select many users in joomla to add them to moodle. I should select them one by one, and selecting 4500 members is a disaster for me.

Thanks for your great component,

Logout goes to Joomla: that is expected behaviour, Joomdle works like that. Will take note in case we can make it configurable in some upcoming release.

"Select all" problem: known, solved for next release.

The problem is that joomla only asks for a name. So users can interpret that as only a first name, surname or both. Moodle on the other hand requires the surname. This can be aggravating. So what I did as part of the instructions is try to in still in students that they must enter their first and last name (separted by a space) to avoid the profile update. Remember one of the reasons you need the surname is for the Certificate module. Really be glad to see community builder support for moode. I hope this support includes the user_info_fields in moodle so that can we finally layout a form in a manner that does not confuse students. This would include adding state and zip fields in the address area of the form that users are used to, instead of burying it somewhere off the page.

Hi.

Just learnt abour the mdl_user_info_fields table, I have not ever used them before.
Thanks for opening my eyes ;)

So, sadly, this won't be in R0.3, but I will open a new thread in the feature requests forum so this does not get lost, as I think it would be a good addition.
Please, comment there any ideas you have about how this shoudl work:
