3. Don't think it is possible. Where are you linking to? Remember this is just a random quiz, which does not belong to a coure or any other "complete e-learning module"

The quiz I use in the randomquestion module is a part of a bigger course with other documents and exercises. Why is a link to the course itself so difficult?

Because there is no relation between a question category and a course.
You can have 2 courses with quizes taking question from the same questions category.

Depending on your installation, you may want to either:

1)
- hack the module to include a manual link to the course
- hack the module to allow a link through a module parameter (incase you have many courses with quiz modules)

2)
Create a second html custom module which you publish directly below the quiz module which includes some marketing stuff such as "for more or to join the course ... click here"

Clearly, the 2nd option is easier and provides you more flexibility from a marketing perspective.
