Joomdle incredibly slow was created by Jay Gao
Hi,
First of all, a great extension which may be the only solution to achieve the same look and feel for our Moodle and Joomla site without having to spend a lot of time or money.

I installed moodle 2 and Joomla 3.3, and the latest Joomdle, followed the instructions and get everything to work. The only problem is that the Joomla site becomes very slow on the front end, and on the backend, the Joomle component is quite quick to load, but the Users is very slow to load, although we only had several users set up. The Course request is also very slow to load.

The Joomla site is very fast when I disabled Joomdle; the moodle site is slightly slower than Joomla but much faster than Joomle on Joomla when accessed directly.

There aren't much content setup on these 2 sites, and I have only set them up on my localhost (using xampp) to test. Could there be something that I have missed in settings? I can confirm that the "user designer theme" wasn't enabled.

Thanks for your help

Joomdle will naturally add some overhead when pulling data through moodle to joomla but not really noticeable in most cases. You can try our demo and see for yourself that there is little difference. Note that everything may appear slow because our demo server is in Singapore on J2.5 and Moodle 1.9 (you are relative performance).

That said, there are things that may appear to slow down the site. For example some 3rd party extensions force joomdle to fetch user data continuously like activity streams etc. It is also possible that there could be a conflict with one of your other plugins.

You can try have a plain joomla page with just joomdle vs a page with joomdle and modules and etc etc. You can also look at your php memory settings. It is possible that you had just enough for joomla but not enough for joomla plus extensions. I think most ppl are happy with 128 rather than 64.

You may also want to do a quick search in the forum. A few people have reported speed issues and to my knowledge have all been solved.

Without much further information it is difficult for us to assist any further.
