Hi All,

I'm interested in improving joomla/joomdle/moodle access via a mobile device like ipad and iphone.

Currently, my site seems to work pretty good when browsed on an iPad. The only problem seems to be when viewing a PDF from the moodle side, it won't display the whole file, about 2/3 of the file is viewable and I'm unable to scroll down to view the rest.

On an iphone, courses don't show at all from the moodle side.

I'm using a Rocket Theme template that allows some customization of how mobile devices see the site.

Questions:

Any tips for helping display a joomla/joomdle/moodle integration via iPad/iPhone?

What is coming that will help facilitate view moodle sites view iphone or iPad. Particularly serving video?

Is anybody currently serving video from their moodle that is view-able via iPhone or Ipad?

Hi David,

I am thinking too.... thinking .... thinking but have not really start yet. I have chosen to start from the classroom rather than from Joomdle - only because my need is there at the moment.

As for Joomdle, there has been no work on that at all.

There are some template providers that will help, for example yootheme has responsive templates which will partially help. I see one of the biggest problems, regardless of template providers, is that much Moodle content may need to be redesigned for different screen sizes. Videos, should be able to be handled by the responsive templates (but remember moodle video tools will need to be responsive too).

Have you looked at how the Moodle apps work for iphone / ipad. I did a quick search a few weeks back and notice a few apps but didn't really play with many. The first few, were not fantastic but perhaps I didn't give them a good kick.

Hi Chris, Moodle HQ announced support for HTML5. (Moodle 2.4). Hopefully freeing us from a local app.

Also, Adobe has announced support for HTML5 content.

So, getting content on iPad and iPhone via Joomdle/ Moodle seems like a possibility.

Thanks for the links. Hopefully this will help get things moving a little. But I think we will still have issues with screen sizes and the content. To truly leverage the smaller screens the courses will need to be redeveloped. This is something ppl can start thinking about and potentially developing.
