Just how much... was created by Brian
I have been currently running Moodle 2.3 and I have not been pleased with the appearance of Moodle. I’ve been looking for something like Joomdle. I was looking for something like Joomdle.

My current Moodle site is a paid site but I want to know how much of the Moodle is going to show up in Joomdle. Basically I have nav bars, courses with videos, and discussion forums. What can I expect to see and if I install Joomdle?

If I install Joomdle will I still have full control in Moodle and then the security and function features and courses operate as normal? Or, will I have to do things through Joomdle?

I haven't seen any demo or documentation that truly reflects just how it is going to work or look. I've seen "features" but that doesn't show me what Moodle courses will look like in Joomdle.

Thanks in advance.

Brian

Joomdle can work in two ways now:
- Show course in Moodle (full window or wrapper), so layout is still on Moodle
- Use the Joomdle course view. This is still experimental, and at the end, users get to Moodle to submit files, make quizes, etc.

Hi Brian

Have you looked at the Joomdle demo? Login and go to my courses and you can get an idea. Remember however, that the look of a course is just as much dependent upon your course design as it is on Joomdle.

Thanks for the replies!

I see that it says Moodle courses and Moodle Events. Will it say Moodle on everything it displays in Joomdle?

If I have 3 columns in my layout will Joomdle display that? The center is where the content of the course is displayed.
Here is what my course looks like:
1. Label with video embedded.
2. Advanced uploading of files
3. Discussion forum.

Do themes in Moodle affect how it appears in Joomdle? If so, what is the best theme to use that easily integrates with Joomdle? I am currently using Form Factor in Moodle.

Will I have to “redesign” how my courses look in Joomdle? That is, map fields from the courses in Moodle into Joomdle?

Anxiously waiting...

Not sure what you mean with "it says moodle".

As for all your other questions: I think you should test Joomdle locally so you can see how it works.

On the demo on the side it says My Moodle Courses or something like that. I was hoping that I would be able to have my own description other than Moodle...

I am planning on testing it out on my server. I was just trying to get as much info as I could before I started the process. I've created a test site to try it out on. I finally got the site up and running and will have to add Joomla and Joomdle. Wish me luck as my experience has been that nothing goes as planned. ;)

Cheers,

Brian

"My Moodle courses" is just the title of the module, you can set it to whatever you want.

Okay, I've successfully installed Joomla 2.5.8 and I have Moodle 2.3.3 installed. I have gone through Moodle and have followed instructions per www.joomdle.com/wiki/Preparing_Moodle_20 except for the "Add functions to service step".

I need to know where I should unzip Joomdle at. Does it go in the root folder of my Joomla install or in a Moodle folder?

I'm ready to get this thing up and running! B)

Well, I just uncompressed my joomdle 0.82 and I see Moodle and some other things. I am going to assume that I don’t install those folders with Moodle.

What about the folder called “other-joomla-packages. What is that all about and where does it go?

I couldn't find any documentation about my previous post or what's in the joomdle 0.82.zip folder and where it goes.

Also, I don't see where to set the Enable Web Services as shown in www.joomdle.com/wiki/Prerequisites

THANKS!

Brian

As the doc says, enabling web services is only needed in J1.5.

other-joomla-packages are additional, non-core modules/plugins.
